    Marcia

I'm a stay-at-home-mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON at my second marathon and slipped into the vortex. Join me as I fulfill my dream of running the five marathon majors.

Happy New Year!

Categories: 2011, New Year

To my readers and A-listers:
Thank you for hanging out here with me. Whether you’ve been along for the run awhile now or you’ve recently joined us. Whether I’ve had the pleasure of actually meeting you or you remain on the to-meet list, as weird as Thing 1 thinks this is, I consider you all my friends.

Thank you for sharing your comments, support, wit and wisdom. Through this humble blog, in 2010 I had the privilege of celebrating your victories and cursing your injuries;  supporting those who are struggling, and cheering many of you on to breakthrough performances and first races.

You inspire me to take more risks, push the envelope further, swear louder and live more fully.

May 2011 be a year filled with exciting experiences and may your heart be open to new possibilities.
Peace, health, and happiness to you and yours!

PS: Modern Caveman’s grandma passed last night, so I may be MIA as we head downstate to her hometown for the funeral. Thank you for your thoughts wishes and prayers.

Three Final Things

Categories: Gift Exchange, New Year

1. Gift Exchange Goodies
Behold the array of good things I found in my mailbox from Bobbi my Secret Santa. There was some yummy Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark, some Chocolate Outrage GUs and a very cute ‘Run’ necklace from Inspired Endurance. Perfect! Thank you Bobbi and special thanks to Jill for coordinating this extravaganza.

2. Exercise-Induced Toothache
Santa seems to have left me one of these. Holy molars it hurts after I run. I’m heading to the dentist later for relief and to take advantage of our quickly fading 2010 dental insurance.

3. Fading
Modern Caveman’s 96 year-old granny is declining fast. She’s suffered the past several years with full-blown alzheimer’s but recently fell and broke her hip, precipitating a downward spiral. She is not expected to last into the new year. Sad, but in a way a blessing as well. I will hold many fond memories of her close in my heart.

Can you believe it’s almost 2011?
