Dreams and Bloggers and Winners Oh My!

My new scale who, thanks to Big Daddy Diesel’s suggestion, will be known as El Diablo, is getting in my head. I had a dream last night that I grew so fat I had a long woolen coat that had a pleat down the back and it was flared all the way open and I still couldn’t button the coat. I woke this morning thinking this was true. Thankfully it is not.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet lots of other bloggers. I’ve been asked recently if bloggers are in real life the way they seem on their blog. In my experience, mostly they are. Even better usually. There has only been one or two instances when a blogger’s ‘real life’ personality is inconsistent with their blogging voice. Have you met other bloggers? Are your findings similar to mine?

Injinji Socks Winner! Congrats to Jacki! Please contact me and I’ll get you setup with your socks. Thanks to all who entered! Thanks to Injinji for sponsoring. I’ve got something really fun on deck for next week so stay tuned!

Pre-Race Dreams

I rarely, if ever, have dreams about running. But I had a dream last night where I got to my race (the half I’m running tomorrow) and realized I’d brought no gels, Accelerade or fuel belt. I was pretty horrified until I realized there was a full-service cafeteria near the gear check so I ordered up a stack of pancakes and went from there. I have no idea how the race of my dreams turned out but I did consult the trusty online dream analyzer to try to draw some insights. According to The Curious Dreamer, forgetting or being unprepared for something could indicate:

  • A fear of losing control or a fear of failure
  • Feeling that you have too much on your mind and are afraid you’ll forget something
  • How important it is to you to remember the thing you forgot in the dream, and your subconscious is just giving you a reminder (for example, dreaming that you forgot next week’s final exam that is very important to you)

I suppose all of them are valid possibilities, although this was a last-minute addition to my schedule and is by no means a goal race.  I think I’m going to go pack up my fuel right now.

Have you had running-related dreams?

Are you racing this weekend?
