Under Armour #Whatsbeautiful Goal

Categories: Duathlon, Under Armour, What's Beautiful Project

At last I’ve been able to download this video that talks about my #whatsbeautiful goal! Excuse the sweaty dish rag hair and unrehearsed babbling:

I realized as I dragged my feet and let years slip by without registering for a duathlon, despite the fact that I enjoy riding my bike, that I was letting something that happened in the past define me. Living in the shadow of fear. This summer I will overcome that fear. I will do my first duathlon. I WILL!

Team NEVER SAY NEVER always welcomes new members! Remember each team member sets their own goal so you certainly do not have to do a duathlon just because I am. Go here to learn more about Under Armour’s What’s Beautiful Project.

What fear do you need to let go of?

Filling the Fitness Bucket

A fitness bucket list: do you have one?

The first time I thought of fitness in terms of a bucket list was back in 2007 when I decided I needed to run ‘A’ marathon…as in one and done…to fill mine. 6 marathons and counting, we all know how that panned out.

Lately I’ve been thinking again about fitness goals and things I’d like to achieve in this lifetime. So here we go, my fitness bucket list:

Run the 5 marathon majors

  • Boston check x2
  • Chicago checkx2
  • New York City will happen in 2013 or 2014 thanks to the grandfathered lottery
  • London
  • Berlin

Other bucket list races:

  • Marine Corps Marathon Registered for 10/28/12!
  • Nike Women’s
  • Big Sur
  • Disney I assumed the kids would get into Disney and this would be a family trip. Alas the kids are over Disney and it never panned out. If I want a Disney race, this must happen on my own.
  • Run a relay check! Madison to Chicago just last weekend.
  • Duathlon I’ve been harping on this one for years. While I’ve become MUCH more confident on the bike and ride regularly, I haven’t made this a priority. As a result, I’ve got conflicts with all local duathlons this year. Sigh.
Run in as many states as possible–here’s how that’s coming along:
Run as part of a charity team
Chicago Marathon 2010 for the Lupus Association
Switching Gears: One of the most important things I believe we can do as fitness/health enthusiasts is mentor and share our passion.
  • Coach figure skating Check. I love it and plan to continue for as long as possible.
  • Wellness Coaching  Check. Certified earlier this year
  • Personal Training Looking at programs now
Curiosities
CrossFit fascinates me. I’m riveted to the Reebok CrossFit games. Every. Single. Time. It’s on TV.  But the excuse of marathon training and reluctance to get overly sore or injured have kept me from it so far.  I will try it–soon!
How will you fill your fitness bucket?
