The New Year Unplugged

January 3, 2016

Except for Instagram, it’s been radio silence on social media here for a few days and ya know what? It felt pretty great! Before we get to the rest of the week’s goodness, here’s how the workouts went: Monday: Rest Tuesday: 6 trail miles Wednesday: Yoga Thursday: 5 miles Friday: Killer strength & swim Saturday: [Read More]

What NOT to Pack for a Destination Race

November 2, 2015

Today’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is Racecation Prep. I’m sure you’re going to find tons of great info. on what to pack from my co-hosts and others linking up, but I’m going to give you a little twist and tell you my top things NOT to bring with you: The stick. Let me clarify you [Read More]

Run10Feed10 Race Report

October 18, 2015

On Saturday I ran the Women’s Health Run10Feed10 10k in Chicago. For every person that runs this 10k, 10 hungry people in the community are fed. Great cause, yes? I thought so and was honored to be an Ambassador for this race. Goals for the race? Racing soon after a marathon is tricky. I knew [Read More]

Balance? What Balance?

October 13, 2015

Today’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is running/racing/life/work balance. Do you ever get to a point in your race schedule and wonder what the heck you were thinking? Yeah I’m kind of there. I seem to have overloaded October with races (a 5k, two 10k, two halfs), ALL after running a marathon. Is this a [Read More]

Apres Marathon and What’s Next?

October 7, 2015

It feels weird (in the best way) having my fall marathon done so early. Twin Cities was the earliest in fall I’ve ever run a marathon. Being blessed with perfect weather was quite a coup. I’ve been laying low this week, not running. I may not run again until next week. Then again maybe I [Read More]

What to Do When Races Get Hard

October 2, 2015

We’re in the midst of peak racing season. What better time to talk about strategies for those late, hopefully really late miles when the wheels feel like they’re about to come off? Wait, let’s hope it never gets that hard. But who am I kidding? Sometimes it does. Confession: I may have written this for [Read More]

Race-Day Outfit 101

September 10, 2015

This post is sponsored by Vocalpoint and Dick’s Sporting Goods. All opinions, as always, are my own.  The last time I brought up the race-day outift topic, my marathon was 60+ days away. Well that number has dwindled considerably. Breathe. The Twin Cities Marathon is now less than a month away. 24 days, but who’s [Read More]

Wait, Did I Race?

August 27, 2015

I told you all about last weekend’s Fort2Base Race. But now I’m wondering if it was all just a dream? The race has FREE race pics. Heck to the yes! Who pays those exorbitant race pic prices anyway? Not I usually, although I did for my first marathon…and first Boston…. I digress. So yeah free [Read More]

Racing: The Rest of the Year

August 11, 2015

This week’s Tuesday’s on the Run Linkup asks about race schedules. So far I haven’t done much this year beyond a 10-miler and a few triathlons. That’s all going to change very soon. Here’s how the rest of the year looks: This is my sweaty self after Fort2Base last year. Nice medal, yes? August 23: [Read More]

It’s a Sickness

June 22, 2015

How I know there’s another triathlon in my future: I crossed the finish line and as soon as I flopped into the Caveman’s arms my first words were “I’m not doing that again.” Those were my exact words when I finished my first marathon in 2007. The miserably hot, humid and cancelled one they officially [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
