5 Ways to Celebrate a Running Milestone

June 10, 2016

Running and milestones kind of go hand-in-hand. Running is hard. Training takes discipline and sacrifice. So when we run a new distance, or stick with a training plan for months, finish a challenging race or PR, we need to celebrate, right? 2017 will be the 10th anniversary of my first half and full marathons. Kind [Read More]

A Hoarder. Of the Highest Order.

June 6, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is race gear. We all love it, right? Are you a hoarder with a stash that requires its own zip code? Or are you a minimalist? Like many, I do love me some running gear. Ok lots of it. Brands? I’ve got a fave….or 6…or 12. First I [Read More]

What’s Your Racing Personality?

May 16, 2016

This week on Tuesdays on the Run we’re talking about your racing personality aka: Do you find yourself doing the same races over and over? Are you a one-and-done type? A 50 stater? Marathon Maniac? Tell us! Me? I’m kind of all over the place:   At this point I’ve run over 100 races. While [Read More]

Racecation: Things to Consider When Planning One

May 9, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is the almighty Racecation. We love the idea of destination racing, but how much does it really cost?  Are there factors even more critical than monetary ones when deciding to hit the register button? My knee jerk reaction to the word “Racecation” is Sign Me Up! I wanna [Read More]

Cinco de Miler Race Report

May 8, 2016

I’ve eyed the Cinco de Miler for years and coveted the sombrero medal, alas I could never make the date work. Until this year. I was extra delighted when they offered a suburban option for packet pickup as trekking into the city is a pia on race day is more than enough trekking for me. [Read More]

Favorite Running Gear: Discounted

May 2, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is all about our favorite: Running gear and where to get it. Maybe you cut loose and splurge on a regular basis, maybe you wait and reward yourself with a new outfit (or 6) when you hit a running milestone, but chances are you’ve got some go-to brands [Read More]

Relays, Ducks and Dogs

April 27, 2016

Do you relay? I sure do, especially when it’s for a great cause like this one is. As a Sweatpink Ambassador I was given the opportunity to partner with the United Relay of America and Aftershokz wireless stereo headphones. Select a leg of the United Relay of America and join me! The relay kicks off [Read More]

Let’s Hear It for Race Swag!

April 25, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run Linkup is all about Race Swag. You know: The goodies you receive at a race. For my purposes, I’m going to exclude race shirts and medals because they’re pretty much expected (at half marathons and longer). I’m defining swag as those unexpected tidbits (maybe at the finish line, maybe [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
