My Child-Free Week

August 8, 2015

The kiddos flew out to NC to visit their grandparents last week. In fact even the Caveman was away on business for a couple of days , leaving me and my dog and fish posse all on our own. What’s a mom to do with a big fat slice of FREE-TIME? An evening workout. That’s [Read More]

Before MAYhem Begins

May 2, 2012

Oh wait, it already did. Well just a few random things about April before I jump in to May. For me, April was about baby steps. I snagged the graphic below from my friend Jodi’s board on Pinterest. It is a great reminder that change does not have to be huge….that even small tweaks, done [Read More]

The Mental Side of Speedwork

August 18, 2011

google images Monicac2 delurked (thank you and welcome!) and asked: I did RLRF last year and it made me dread speed work. How do you maintain a love for speed work? Great question! Yes, speed work is hard. Gut-busting, even puke inducing if you let it be. But like any hard work, it pays off [Read More]

Life is a Series of Equations

July 29, 2011

google images I had one of, if not THE best, workouts of the year yesterday: 2(8x400m) flanked by warmup/cooldown miles, followed by yoga, topped off with a little something for the core. You know you’re in trouble when your workout is expressed as an equation. The final three intervals got a little ragged but overall [Read More]

Training Recap: Taper Edition

April 4, 2010

Yes folks I finally FINALLY made it to the taper! After injury, illness, whining, more illness, shoe strife you name it I’ve suffered thru it this training cycle, I have made it to the TAPER barely in one piece! Here’s how the second to last week before that little race that culminates in Beantown shook [Read More]

Our New Addition

November 20, 2009

Last weekend, I hopped out of our car, (the beloved Estrogen Express) and popped into a craft store in search of some bling for Thing 2 to decorate her feather for the preschool turkey. Hubby and the kids drove down to the pet store for some fun of their own.  Nextdoor is a Bath and [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
