Where are you running this winter? Are you pushing through the cold? Treading lightly on ice and snow? Enduring a seemingly endless string of gloomy, grey days? Hitting the treadmill? Our Tuesdays on the Run topic this week asks you to share scenes from your winter runs. Casa del Marcia is located in Northern Illinois. [Read More]

January 15, 2016

Truth be told, I enjoy my winter running. It’s cool, ok cold here in Northern Illinois. But so peaceful and beautiful when a layer of snow insulates me from the rest of the world. The snow sparkles when the sun hits it just the right way. Yeah, maybe it gets uncomfy when the wind is [Read More]

Change your shoes for better traction. Personally I like a trail shoe since I avoid deep snow for the [Read More]

How to Dress for Cold Weather Running

February 4, 2013

Last week we had some of the coldest weather I’ve gone out to run in so far this season. Not having a spring marathon to train for makes me a touch more willing to surrender to the mill. But I couldn’t resist getting out in the snow yesterday for 10 miles. Temperature when I went [Read More]

Three Below Zero Thursday

December 9, 2010

The Dreamy FrontierCurling up in a nice warm bed and sleeping virtually comatose for 8 hours when it’s zero degrees and pitch dark outside is better than….well almost anything. Lets not forget the restorative properties of sleep either shall we? Rekindling a Friendship The mill and I are once again becoming fast friends. I haven’t [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
