It’s been one week since I announced my latest initiative: Operation Build Endurance. As I mentioned before I’ve made a concerted effort to clean up my diet in order to achieve objective #1. Drop some weight!
Despite my best efforts, ok maybe not my absolute best, there was an M&M incident, but it was only a handful, ok 2. And other than some just-before-bed popcorn (superb carbing right?) I behaved myself. So why then have I dropped exactly zero weight??
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Things 1, 2 and I loaded ourselves into the car, lovingly referred to around here as the Estrogen Express, and headed to the farmer’s market followed by Costco, where we came away loaded down with every variety of fruit and veg known to man, including a violin-case size container of blueberries (gotta have the antioxidants right?)
I had a half-size protein shake after this morning’s half-assed workout (plyometric intervals w/kettle bells) followed by the “Boss”, another of my crazy acronyms for Big Ole Spinach Salad. Actually there was a pinch of romaine in there but who wants to eat something called “Borss”? I threw in 1/2 of one of the homegrown tomatoes I showed you yesterday and ate the other half on its own to fully enjoy it’s summery goodness. And in addition to the requisite cuke, tomato and bell pepper, I threw in some grapes, blueberries (antioxidants), avocado (good fat) some Trader Joe’s Antioxidant Fruit and Nut Blend (protein, antioxidants and Omega-3s!) and a dollop of tuna for protein. Very enjoyable I must say. Although I’m starting to feel peckish once again. These late afternoon hours are the worst for me as far as binge eating goes, that’s why I’m here. Because another of my hard and fast rules is No Eating in Front of the Computer!
Bracing for the Ring of Fire. It’s rainy and miserable here today. But the weather channel has been warning us all week that the “Ring of Fire” is approaching and should be here just in time for this weekend’s 20-miler. If the forecast low of 76 and high of 98 hold true I’ll be in for a very “character-building” run to say the least. Joy! I’ll be back next week with my report.
Have a fun weekend!
