Fun Day w/Dara & Koss

May 9, 2013

Yesterday I road tripped up to Milwaukee WI (what are the chances I get up to cheese country twice in less than a week?) for a VIP Fitfluential mission. We attended the unveiling of two new products from Koss, maker of the first headphones. Koss partnered with 12 x Olympic medalist and all-around badass, Dara [Read More]

Wisconsin Half Marathon Race Report

May 6, 2013

This race has been on again/off again right up to the night before. Miraculously I actually ran it! Well mostly. Eye roll. First there was the issue of a conflicting skating competition, then a bris for a new baby in the family. Then my ornery salsa funk shoulder made training such a bitch I questioned [Read More]

Race Report: Loop the Lakes 5k

April 29, 2013

5k #2 for the year is on the books. I did this race last year in sideways rain/sleet. Today we were treated to sunny skies, mild breezes and temps in the 50’s. Glorious. Goal A: Beat my time at the Eggshell Shuffle. Goal B: Beat last year’s time. Goal C: Run strong and enjoy the [Read More]

Week in Review/Final Boston Thoughts

April 22, 2013

I am seeing more and more Boston finisher shots trickle in on Facebook. In light of the tragedy, I suspect many felt it previously inappropriate to post these, but I am happy to see them all the same. The family and I have a ritual of hitting the grocery store on the weekend. It’s kind [Read More]

Do You Have the Fast Running Gene?

April 15, 2013

Did you know there’s a genetic test available that will tell you whether you have the potential to be ‘good’ marathoner? That’s right, it’ll save you months, even years of training agony because, according to the article, if you do not possess the DNA necessary for your body to respond well and adapt to stamina [Read More]

Confidence and Kids

April 12, 2013

Being a parent, I think a lot about confidence and kids. I was especially wary when Thing 1 entered middle school back in September. Those were some awkward years…for me anyway. Thing 1 had minimal trepidation. Her biggest concern was that the gym teacher she got was tough and they had to run a mile [Read More]

Techno-Dunce Meets Droid

April 9, 2013

If you’ve seen my cryptic blurbs and pics on Facebook and Twitter you know something’s been up with me and Verizon. Actually I didn’t even know what was really going on until they coughed it up yesterday. I am part of the Verizon Voices Project. Cool yes? Cool and also out of my comfort zone. [Read More]

About That #Bestrun and a Winner

April 8, 2013

Amanda aka Miss Zippy asked about best runs. You know, the ones you wish you could seal up in a bottle. I was blessed with a totally unexpected one just last week. I wish I could say the scenery was spectacular or the weather conditions were perfect like they were over the weekend on the [Read More]

WIAW: #Sugardetox Edition

April 3, 2013

Today is day 3 of Laura at Mommy Run Fast’s 7-day sugar detox challenge. The week is young, but I am hanging in there. Although this is by no means my maiden voyage into sugar depletion, I am learning things about myself. When I get highly annoyed, I tend to want to let my diet [Read More]

Eggshell Shuffle Race Report

March 31, 2013

I’ve had my eye on this race since the inaugural but for one reason or another never got around to running it until this year. I chose the 5k, since 2013 is the year of the 5k. Heeding threats of limited parking, I arrived early and staked out across from this monstrosity. Somebody was tailgating [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
