Long Grove Turkey Trot

November 29, 2013

I did the 5k right here in our tiny town for a third time, the second time on this course. It was cold. Although warmer than I expected, the wind chill was 15, making this probably the coldest race I’ve done…unless my runner’s amnesia is flaring. This race has grown exponentially. It sold out before [Read More]

Things I Learned On My Break From the Marathon

November 27, 2013

It’s been more than a year since my last marathon. This was the first voluntary (not injury-induced) break I’ve taken from at least one marathon per year since 2006. I lived to tell about it. Here’s what I learned: Time flies. Maybe even moreso without marathon training in the mix. It’s still really fun watching [Read More]

#Elf4Health and #OneSmallChange Link Up Week 8

November 26, 2013

Elf4Health Challenge Day 2: Unsubscribe! I did a massive purge of my email inbox. Whew that felt good! What’s up with these companies who send an email every. freaking. day. anyway?? Does anyone appreciate this? If there’s a fantastic sale, great, I’d love to know about it. But otherwise? Give it a rest. How do [Read More]

Holiday Week Mash

November 25, 2013

I put on my big girl pants yesterday…and my wind pants and base layer and half zip, jacket, balaclava, head band, hat, basically the full arsenal of running gear was out in force yesterday to brave 12 degree temps. All we were missing was some snow to top it off. I am no stranger to [Read More]

Stocking Stuffers I Love

November 22, 2013

‘Tis the season for giving. What better time to give the runners in your life a little something special? The following gift ideas were chosen because runners (ok me) love them, they’re a little bit unique and best of all, they won’t break the bank, oh and they fit in a stocking. That’s kind of [Read More]

#GrainBrain Challenge: It’s a Wrap

November 20, 2013

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Grain Brain. Technically I have another week on the challenge, but since Thanksgiving happens next week, things get crazy. I wanted to post before the crazy. I also wanted to post because I got on the scale yesterday. There’s good news and bad: First the [Read More]

#OneSmallChange Link Up Week 7

November 19, 2013

Time marches on! Have we really been at this change thing for 6 weeks already? Congrats to those of you who’ve been hanging with me and welcome to those who are just joining in! There’s no better time to make small changes. Here’s how the challenge has gone for me so far: Keep kitchen counters [Read More]

Windy Weekend Rewind

November 18, 2013

I picked the perfect weekend to lay off the racing because our weather left much to be desired.  The wind was wicked all weekend, culminating in a string of tornadoes on the ground yesterday. While we were lucky enough to only be without power for awhile, others fared far worse. Thoughts and prayers to all [Read More]

Runfessions

November 15, 2013

1. I feel like I should have my running blogger club card revoked because I don’t have a Starbucks red cup pic to share with you or splash on Instagram. I’ll go on the assumption you’ve all seen them. Now I love me some holiday cheer and gosh the sound of those holiday bevvies at [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
