August 4, 2014

July has flown by once again. Camp is over, school is creeping up and I’m in the early phases of training for the New York City Marathon. Mileage for July: Running: 100. Not sure how I hit that one on the head when I wasn’t even aiming for it. Biking: 44. Swims: 4 (not counting [Read More]

Race Report: Espirit de She Chicago

July 28, 2014

On Thursday night I headed down into the city for the Espirit de She 5k/10k. Minus the 2-hours spent sitting in traffic,  I loved everything about being an Ambassador for this race. I got there with enough time to snag (free!) street parking, catch my breath and take in the beauty that is the Chicago [Read More]

Marathon Training with Coeur Sports

July 2, 2014

The following post is sponsored by Fit Approach on behalf of Coeur Sports. If you hang out with me here you know that, after waiting in the lottery since 2011, this is FINALLY my year to run the New York City Marathon and I’m more than a little excited about it. Runfessions

June 26, 2014

Yep, time for another purge of the runfessions. Many of you have joined me in the runfession movement so this time around I made it a linkup. The plan is to share runfessions during the last week of the month or so. Let’s go: I procrastinated yesterday’s workout because I had a cleaning jag. Unheard [Read More]

Do You Have the Fast Running Gene?

April 15, 2013

Did you know there’s a genetic test available that will tell you whether you have the potential to be ‘good’ marathoner? That’s right, it’ll save you months, even years of training agony because, according to the article, if you do not possess the DNA necessary for your body to respond well and adapt to stamina [Read More]

Exorcising Marathon Demons

October 23, 2012

I thought I was handling this whole pre-marathon injury fiasco fairly well until I found myself in tears in the middle of a spin class the other day. I think it’s part of the process of letting go. Of grieving the loss of the marathon I might have run had things been different. Ok so [Read More]

Runfession

October 15, 2012

What do you do when you have an injury that just won’t quit? Last fall I took a DNS at not one but two fall marathons. Fast forward to this year: My strained tensor fascia seemed to be healing up nicely: 9/16: I celebrated a pain-free 16 mile long run 9/22: I ran a slow but [Read More]

2 Steps Forward…

October 1, 2012

…and yes, one step back. Last week after Rock n Roll Denver was going so well… My mile repeats were stellar once I got back to oxygenated air. I ran an unusually strong 10+ miles at marathon pace (whatever that is) on Thursday. On Saturday I set out for my long run. I planned on [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
