Runfessions: Before Summer Slips Away

August 28, 2015

It’s that time once again. Before summer slips away from us completely, let’s get those runfessions out on the table, shall we? Let’s begin: You may have noticed I haven’t mentioned a bike ride here for a loooong time. Um, yeah my back tire’s been flat since before we went to Europe. Hangs head in [Read More]

Wait, Did I Race?

August 27, 2015

I told you all about last weekend’s Fort2Base Race. But now I’m wondering if it was all just a dream? The race has FREE race pics. Heck to the yes! Who pays those exorbitant race pic prices anyway? Not I usually, although I did for my first marathon…and first Boston…. I digress. So yeah free [Read More]

Racing: The Rest of the Year

August 11, 2015

This week’s Tuesday’s on the Run Linkup asks about race schedules. So far I haven’t done much this year beyond a 10-miler and a few triathlons. That’s all going to change very soon. Here’s how the rest of the year looks: This is my sweaty self after Fort2Base last year. Nice medal, yes? August 23: [Read More]

My Child-Free Week

August 8, 2015

The kiddos flew out to NC to visit their grandparents last week. In fact even the Caveman was away on business for a couple of days , leaving me and my dog and fish posse all on our own. What’s a mom to do with a big fat slice of FREE-TIME? An evening workout. That’s [Read More]

Excuse-Proof Your Workouts

August 5, 2015

It’s been a tough summer. As a running coach, I hear all kinds of excuses. Races are fun. There’s music, cheering spectators, food and swag. We get to go on Facebook and Instagram with our finish line shots. Training? Not so much fun. You often have to get up before the sun to get [Read More]

The Breakup

July 28, 2015

I’m just not that into them. Or maybe they’re not that into me. Mizuno Wave Creations have been my jam for my entire life as a marathoner. That’s since 2007 in case you were wondering. All 50+ halfs and 8 fulls, all in Mizuno. So much history. Things started unraveling last year. Something changed, causing [Read More]

It’s a Sickness

June 22, 2015

How I know there’s another triathlon in my future: I crossed the finish line and as soon as I flopped into the Caveman’s arms my first words were “I’m not doing that again.” Those were my exact words when I finished my first marathon in 2007. The miserably hot, humid and cancelled one they officially [Read More]

Five Fitness Favorites

June 19, 2015

It’s time for another edition of “Stuff I Love”! This time I’m talking about things I’m loving on the workout front: Enduro Packs: For 30 days during peak tri training, I used Enduropacks Daily Micronutrients. It consists of a daily Liquid Multi-Vitamin, which is rather tasty if I do say so myself, L-Glutamine Recovery Complex, a [Read More]

Things To Do After a Goal Race & Giveaway

June 18, 2015

After months of training and hard work, you’ve crossed the finish line. Congratulations. But now what? Let’s talk about things to do post-race: Recover: You’ve got about a 30 minute window to take in some protein and carbs to start the muscle repair process. Hydrate too with an electrolyte drink. With the thrill/exhaustion of the [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
