5 Keys to Becoming a Lifelong Runner

February 5, 2018

Chances are good you’ve come across someone (or maybe lots of people) who “used to run” but for one reason or another, no longer does. The reasons why this happens vary widely but two of the most common ones I’ve heard are because of injury or time constraints. Priorities change, life gets in the way [Read More]

Let’s Gaze Into The Running Crystal Ball

January 15, 2018

There’s a lot of exciting stuff coming up this year. Even more so since it’s an Olympic year.  While it’s always a good idea to live in the present, it’s fun sometimes to think about the future. What goodness and challenges will unfold? The popularity of running is waning. I predict we’re going to see [Read More]

RocknRoll Las Vegas 5k

November 13, 2017

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is Runners Gift Lists but since I am just back from an epic destination race remix weekend, I’m going to stray. One does not get any more glitz and glam than Las Vegas and RocknRoll Las Vegas keeps well with that theme. As a RocknBlogger, I am lucky [Read More]

Fall is here and finally it actually feels like it too! Our Tuesdays on the Run Linkup asks you to share all of your fall running favorites. This post contains affiliate links.  I’ve got a few things that have been indispensable to me lately: Ultimate Direction Hydration Pack. Finally a hydration pack made just for us [Read More]

Weird Stuff Seen at Marathons

October 12, 2017

In the past two weeks I’ve been to two marathons: One as a runner and one as a spectator/coach. Now don’t get me wrong, marathons are wonderful, inspiring events. But sometimes you run across things that make you go hmmmm. In Europe, cigarette smoking is way more popular than it is here in the United [Read More]

Berlin Marathon Race Report

October 2, 2017

I’ve made you wait long enough but the wait is over. The Berlin Marathon Race Report is here. When we left off yesterday, the starting gun for Wave 2 of the Berlin Marathon had sounded and I was off, doing a slow shuffle across the timing mats with 42k of my newest friends. As you’d [Read More]

Fall Racing With a Side of Guilt

September 18, 2017

Even though it doesn’t quite feel like it, fall will blow into town officially in just a few days. While I’ll be the first to proclaim fall as the finest of the seasons, I don’t particularly care for the long, dark winter months that follow hot on it’s heels. Our Tuesdays On the Run Linkup [Read More]

How Will Your Running Change This Fall?

September 4, 2017

This week our Tuesdays’s On the Run Linkup begs the question: How will your training change this fall? There will definitely be some running changes here. In less than 3 weeks, I’ll no longer be training for a marathon. Gone will be those arduous 15+ mile long runs. In their place will be half marathon [Read More]

The Best Ways to Optimize Post-Workout Recovery

August 21, 2017

Many of us are in the peak weeks of training for fall races. During those peak weeks we put incredibly high demands on our bodies. Because physical training is a process of repeatedly tearing down muscle tissue and building it back stronger as we adapt to the training load, attention to recovery is absolutely [Read More]

RnR Chicago: Running on Jet Lag

July 17, 2017

I knew running Rock n Roll Chicago this year was going to be a challenge as it took place hot on the heels of our epic summer vacay (stay tuned for the lowdown on that). Since this was not my first time flying in from Greece (hello 11 hour flight, + connection to a 2 [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
