Punch That Ticket to Taper Town

October 23, 2016

Through all the hoopla about RnR St. Louis last weekend, I quietly punched my ticket to taper town. At this point, all that stands between me and the Indiana Monumental Marathon is two, count ’em, two weeks. Here’s how taper week one went: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Trail run 3 miles Wednesday: Strength, drills Thursday: Progression run 5.5 [Read More]

RocknRoll St. Louis

October 17, 2016

Our Tuesdays on the Run topic this week is a Fall Goals Checkup. Did you set some? How’s your progress toward achieving them? Off the top of my head I could not even think of what goals I may have set. I took a guess and said this was the year of new running adventures: [Read More]

Optimize Your Running Gait with Stridalyzer

October 14, 2016

Of all the things to think about when I run…upcoming races, weather, how much that first mile (or 5) sucks…I admit I don’t spend much, if any, time thinking about my gait. I know that I’m a mid-foot striker…before I tire and revert to a plodding heel strike…and that any gait analysis I’ve ever had [Read More]

You guys! It was such a fun and full week! I am just back from a Chicago Marathon spectating whirlwind and I can’t wait to tell you all about it, but first the week in workouts as I train toward the Indy Monumental Marathon. Spoiler alert: Except for the 20 miler my workouts kind of [Read More]

Art of the Bath

October 2, 2016

Here I am smack dab in the middle of those exhaustingly heinous peak marathon training weeks before the taper. Before I get to one of the ways I’m rewarding and taking care of myself (sort of) here’s how the week’s workouts went. Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 5 Miles Wednesday: Strength Thursday: Hill Repeats Friday: Plyo [Read More]

Running Challenges? I Have a Few

September 26, 2016

Running Sucks. Well sometimes it does. Maybe sucks is a strong word. This week our Tuesdays on the Run is a fill-in-the-blank. We wanna know what it is about running that is challenging you most right now. I’d be lying if I said training for the Indy Monumental Marathon did not challenge me. It challenges [Read More]

Patience is a Virtue

September 19, 2016

As runners, we hear tons of advice. There’s so much good advice out there. No doubt there’s questionable advice too. Who do you believe? What resonates with you? This week our Tuesdays on the Run linkup asks you to share the best running advice you ever received. As a running coach, I dispense plenty of [Read More]

Mag Mile Half Marathon Race Report

September 12, 2016

This week on Tuesdays on the Run we’re talking about post-race rewards and rituals, but I’m going to stray from the topic to tell you about my race this past weekend. I’ve run in many places, states, countries even, but never down the Magnificent Mile, aka North Michigan Avenue right here in Chicago. Until now. This [Read More]

Hydration Backpack 101

I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable long weekend! This week we’re running free on the Tuesdays on the Run Linkup so all running topics are fair game. I’m taking this free week to tell you about some new-to-me gear. Blame it on the heat, my burgeoning meno-pot (if you don’t know what I’m [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
