Running Fashion Challenge

September 3, 2010

The Fashion Master Cleanse is all the rage lately. It’s where you limit yourself to just 6 clothing items and wear only those (in whatever combinations you please) for 31 days. Checkout the details here.

Fair enough. Lets modify that concept a bit for running purposes.
The Challenge: Share the running attire you’d choose if it was the only running attire you could wear for the entire month. Think comfort, upcoming races, weather, hotness, whatever is important to you and unveil it on your blog. Accessories don’t count so don’t include hats, headbands, socks, Garmins, or underwear…unless you’re wearing it as outerwear.

My 6 Pieces: this took exhausting deliberation believe me…

1. Black capris. Not just any black capris but my Nike ones. They are old and getting stretched out and I’ve bought more than one pair to replace them but I just don’t like them as much. These have history.

I ran my first magical BQ in them back in 2008.

I ran Boston in them last year.
I layered them under a skirt to run Boston this year.

2. Lululemon Black Skirt. (see it in the pic above).
I’m playing safe here with black. But it is virtually fall afterall and the flippy back pleats are to die for.

3. iRunlikeagirl pink sleeveless top. Soooo hard to choose. I hate the thought of being held to one color for a whole month but I do love this top. Here it is in action in Colorado this summer.

4. Nike blue long-sleeve half zip. See? I told you I like color! This will be good for all those cool fallish morning that I’m sure are just around the corner. Please tell me they are!

 5. & 6. Mizunos and Somnios. In true shoe-horse fashion, I could not limit myself to just one pair–even for one month. I seriously need to replace those Mizunos…pronto.
What do your running clothes say about you?
Do you have pieces that are special to you?
Have a great holiday weekend!
GO RACERS!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
