Three Things Thursday

November 17, 2011

1. Temperature Amnesia
Is it just me or do you forget how to dress appropriately for running as soon as the temps dip? I felt like a total wimp wearing my jacket on my run this morning. Until I got out there. It was 28 degrees but holy wind chill Batman! I felt better when I dug up this post and realized that a jacket is pretty normal, even for me, in temps/wind like we have today.
Would you rather run in 80+ degree heat or below freezing cold?

2. Forget About the Turkey
Let’s talk pie! What does your favorite pie say about you?
Apple: Independent, realistic and compassionate
Pecan: Thoughtful and analytical
Chocolate: Loving
Pumpkin: Funny and independent
My fave is apple with pumpkin a close second. In my case, independence seems to be the common thread. Um yep!

Remember that kick-ass Apple Pie With Oatmeal Struesel Crust I made awhile back?
I think I just might be making it again for Thanksgiving.
What’s your favorite pie?

3. Ok Now for the Turkey
Well at least the trot. In a moment of insanity, I signed up for not one but two. A 5k very close to home on Thanksgiving morning (since I have bird duty) and a half marathon on Saturday. Given my recent hip shenanigans, one may consider me unfit to race, especially a half marathon. One would be right. Maybe it’s a rebound thing from missing my fall marathons, I don’t know, but I’m racing….well covering the distance may be a better description. I’m going out there sans pace monkey to just have some fun. Oh and burn off all that pie!
Are you trotting this Thanksgiving?

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
