Weekend Highlights
You may know that I’m a washed up figure skater who still dabbles in coaching now. You may not know that this was US Nationals Weekend. The Caveman has the Superbowl and his football chair, I have US Nationals and the figure skating couch. Saturday, I stayed up late into the night (10pm) eyes glued to the TV, cheering, cussing and shouting critiques.

I am thrilled that Ashley Wagner is our ladies singles champion but a huge shout to my home girl
Agnes Zawadzki for her impressive 3rd place finish.
I first met Agnes (at my old home rink in Niles, IL) where I started skating back in the stone age. I was there, skating with Thing 1, then a preschooler. Barely a teenager then, Agnes skated like nobody I’d ever seen outside of the pros or at competitions. I knew then that she possessed extraordinary talent. She went on to be the Junior National Champion and I am not surprised at all to see her do so well this year at her first Senior Nationals.
