How Will You Finish This Year Strong?

November 2, 2017

If this year was a race, now would be the time you turn the corner, see the finish line, and start your finishing kick (you’ve got one, right?). Despite how the rest of the year might have gone, it’s always nice to finish strong. That’s my theory anyway, and finish strong is exactly what I’m [Read More]

Hot Chocolate 15k Race Report

October 30, 2017

This was the 10th anniversary running of the Hot Chocolate 5k and 15k here in Chicago. I’ve run pretty close to all the races in the Chicago area by now but, truth be told, not this one. Because it takes place so late in the year, I’m usually fresh off of a fall marathon so [Read More]

October 29, 2017

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.  Well, well, well. The last full week of October is a wrap. Before I tell you how it all went down, here’s how my workouts shook out. Not too shabby if I do say so myself: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 3 miles intervals am + strength/balance/corework pm (double workout. [Read More]

October why are you disappearing so fast? This entire year is flying and once again it’s time to open up the Runfessional for the Runfession Friday Linkup! It’s where we bare our sweaty souls and start the new month free of running (or any, I’m easy) transgressions. Let’s get started: I runfess I was pretty [Read More]

Goals? What Goals?

October 23, 2017

Here we are nearing the end of October. Heck this is all going so fast why don’t we just wrap up the year while we’re at it? Okay, okay not so fast. This week’s Tuesdays on the Run Linkup prompt asks you to rate your OCTOBER so that’s what we’ll do. I runfess, with everything [Read More]

Running Burns Off the Crazy

October 22, 2017

It was another one of those weeks: Quiet, until the minute I thought things might be coming back together, the universe proved the exact opposite. Before I get to the “crazy” here’s how the week in workouts went. Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 6 miles (6x800m) Wednesday: Yoga Thursday: Run 5 miles (progression) Friday: Strength, balance/stability, [Read More]

Snickerdoodle Protein Bites

October 15, 2017

This week kicked me in the teeth. That pretty much sums it up. Workouts happened in that I ran and did some strength and yoga but I wouldn’t call it training since the runs were more for sanity and decompression than anything else (although my Garmin told me I’m peaking for the second time since [Read More]

What Would You Give to #EndALS?

October 14, 2017

I well remember the grief and horror when our neighbor’s son was diagnosed with ALS. He was a 40-something year old father of two tween boys, seemingly in the prime of his life, when he received the diagnosis. I felt at a loss for what I could do to help, as our neighbors took [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
