The Comeback Trail: Third Time’s a Charm

August 20, 2017

T’was a chaotic week. The kids went back to school so summer is unoffically over. I’ve been dealing with this post.-tib. tendon injury for 2.5 weeks now and seeing Dr. Miracle (not his real name, but it should be) on the regular. This week I was permitted to very gradually ease into terrestrial running. I [Read More]

5 Reasons to Love Trail Running

August 14, 2017

Ahhh trails. I love to take my marathon training to shady trails on summer days when the heat and humidity are unbearable. The beauty and solitude of trails in autumn with the crunch of leaves and brilliant foliage is simply unparalleled. Honestly any day I get to head off and hit the trails is a [Read More]

5 Stages of Injury Acceptance

August 6, 2017

It was a week of “lasts”. The last week without back-to-school related obligations (ie: orientation, locker setup, etc). It was also the last week (well, half of a week) where I didn’t have an injury to contend with. Go here for injury details, I don’t feel like rehashing that story. Here’s how the workout week [Read More]

Coffee Please But Hold the Flood Water

August 3, 2017

If we were having coffee, of course I’d use one of my new mugs acquired on our summer vacation. I’d invite you to kick back in my summer sanctuary (that’s code for the deck) and we’d catch up. I’d tell you that the basement flood really threw us for a loop. While plenty was damaged [Read More]

How to Heal and Prevent Hamstring Injuries

August 1, 2017

I’m straying of our Tuesdays on the Run topic (how do you store/display/organize your running stuff?) today because frankly, after the basement flood, lots of my stuff is a mess. A big one. I’m going to spare you (and myself that heartbreak) and bring you some hamstring info instead. I recently rediscovered an exciting product [Read More]

Our Dubai Adventure

July 30, 2017

Chances are good if you hang around here, follow my Instagram feed or Facebook page, you know we recently took an epic trip to Dubai and the Greek Islands. Actually the Greek Island Cruise was the part of the adventure that we booked first. But one doesn’t fly all the way to Europe to spend [Read More]

Runfession Friday Linkup

July 27, 2017

Seriously was this runfessional not just open a couple of weeks ago? Thanks to vacation, it sure seems that way. Nevertheless, here we are, with July (and some of the glorious daylight) fading before our eyes. Time once again for the Runfession Friday Linkup. Time once again for the Runfession Friday Linkup. Let’s get this [Read More]

Can This Marathon Training Cycle Be Saved?

July 24, 2017

Can you believe July is rapidly slipping away? This week’s Tuesdays on the Run Linkup asks you to wrap up the month and share a progress report on your training and goals. I’ll check in on my goals soon but first there’s an elephant in the room. I’ll come clean. My training for the Berlin [Read More]

24 Hours with Speedy MB

July 13, 2017

Today I’m sailing somewhere in the Aegean, maybe headed to Mykonos, definitely not blogging. Check out Instagram and Facebook for updates on exactly where in the world I’m roaming. I invited one of my favorite runners to share “a day in the life”. Please welcome Marybeth (aka Speedy MB) of Tutus and Tennies fame. Marybeth [Read More]

24 Hours Running On the Fly

July 6, 2017

Since I’m off trekking in the desert somewhere on the Arabian Peninsula this week (check out Instagram and Facebook for updates), I thought it’d be fun to spend 24 hours with some of my blogging friends so today I’m turning this space over to Kim, the voice and creative force behind Running On the Fly. [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
