NYC, OSC and 3 winners

December 3, 2013

nycm14

Before I get into this week’s One Small Change, I need to tell you (If you hadn’t heard me screaming this all over Facebook already) that I’m officially IN for New York City Marathon on 11/2. Phew! That was a long time coming! When I logged onto the site, I half expected there to be a problem: The NYRRs to not have my correct info., changed their policy, something. So when it said YOU HAVE GUARANTEED ENTRY, my mind was blown! Beyond excited for this one!

Ok I’ll collect myself. How can we be at week 9 of the One Small Change Challenge? Here’s a weekly play-by-play of how it’s gone so far for me:

  1. Keep kitchen counters clutter free
  2. Drink at least 64 oz water daily
  3. Do a 2 minute daily plank sequence
  4. Drink warm water with lemon every morning**
  5. Plan meals
  6. Get out for a 10-minute or longer decompression walk on non-running days
  7. Do at least 2 burpees daily
  8. Gratefulness

I’d be lying if I told you this past week was not stressful. Thanksgiving and all that goes with putting that meal together and having family over is never easy (for me anyway). I wish there were no petty squabbles or family politics going on in the extended clan but there are. It’s an energy drain for sure. Being grateful gave me a sense of calm in a sometimes stormy week.

That said, for this week, I’m going to hold and refocus on some things that have been slipping: like adequate water, the kitchen counters and that 10-minute walk that isn’t happening as often as it should. How about you? Did you make one small change this week? Tell us about it and link up below anytime this week. I know it’s a crazy time of year but that’s exactly when we need to focus at least a little, on our own well being. The more often you link this month the better your chances of winning our final prize. Speaking of winning, I’ve got 3 today!

  1. One Small Change November winner of a $50 gift card from Puritan’s Pride: Congrats to Michelle at Running with Attitude
  2. Stocking Stuffers for Runners: Congrats to AJH at Age Groups Rock
  3. The IPS All Natural Egg-White Chips have gone unclaimed so the new winner for that is: Brittany at Barre and Table

Remember Mari at The Snotty Runner has graciously offered 50% everything in her shop with code HEALTHYSLICE. There’s an entire week of free Diet-to-Go meals up for grabs here.

Have you run NYCM? Do you want to? Did you make One Small Change?

    Congrats to the winners!
I don’t know if my kitched counters are ever truly clean. It is a constant shuffle of dishes there!

Congrats on the NYCM slot! I’m sure you’ll have an amazing time doing it.

Clutter on the counters. What a dream it would be to have mine clutter free. Pretty sure that’s not happening here until the kids are in college!

That’s great news about your entry into New York. A friend of mine did it a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time. She couldn’t get over the crowd support through the course – it was so much better than anything she’d experienced before.

YAY!! LOVE NYC and so glad you will be there for my #15! Woot woot!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
