Spring Has Sprung at Last

March 20, 2016

Before we get to some spring-time goodness, here’s how the week went in workouts. Brace yourself for a whole bunch of crickets:

Monday: Sick
Tuesday: Sick
Wednesday: Sick
Thursday: Better but in no shape to do anything
Friday: Still better but gah! Crazy tired and stuffed up
Saturday: Chest crud
Sunday: 5 slow trail miles

It was another week of single parenting. Sick single parenting = no joke.
While Thing 1 was at her track meet, I conned… I mean convinced Thing 2 to watch Fuller House with me. I wasn’t the hugest fan of the old show but there was something that made me wanna watch them all grown up. Time waits for no one. Sigh.

Saturday the Caveman finally made it home. Bearing gifts for the win. We shuttled kids all day then ended up at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner.

I opted for this beautiful Luau Salad, although something tells me it wasn’t too terribly healthy. Blame it on those sheets of fried goodness. Actually most of it came home with me in a box. My appetite still isn’t up to snuff. Not complaining.

We watched Meru. A documentary about mountain climbing, which was fascinating. So freaking dangerous and yet they are attempting it again and again. Who finances these expeditions?

spring time run

Sunday dawned gloriously sunny but icy cold. I think I’m more sensitive to the cold after being sick. I took my “long” run easy and it actually went better than expected. It felt great to get out.

So sorry that you were sick, and single parenting while sick. No fun. Hope you are feeling better.
We did not have spring like weather today… besides the daffodils which are up, it is still pretty cold and I ran with a hat.
No racing for me this weekend… it is now taper time. Two weeks to go.

Hope you have a better week.

Sorry you were so sick this week! I think the cold feels worse now that we had a taste of spring weather. But i always feel like it affects me more after I’ve been sick!

Spring has sprung here in southeastern Virginia and that means EVERYTHING is in bloom-makes for pretty scenery during a run but also a nose that runs like a faucet due to allergies! All was good this week though, I PR’d at the Shamrock 8K-the my first PR in almost 4 years, so even with the runny eyes and nose I was a very happy lady! Have a great week!

Glad you are over being sick. Winter was back this weekend…spring here comes and goes.

Happy to hear your feeling better Marcia! That salad looks ahhhhmazing! 🙂 My husband has dabbled in some mountain climbing – it’s very expensive. He summited Mt. Rainer in 2007 and has amazing pictures of the glacier. It’s exhilarating. Can you imagine Everest??

I’m so glad you are feeling better! Sounds like the flu to this armchair NP. I”ve been seeing a ton of it in my clinic. Some kid coughed on me and I just about ran out of the exam room.

Hopefully you are on the upswing. We need to have lunch! I miss you!

I love documentaries like that, so I’ll be adding that to my queue. Thanks! We had spring-like weather until today, the first day of spring. I think Mother Nature really likes to mess with us. Feel better soon!

Hopefully you are on the other side of the sickness. I know the timing always sucks but especially when your other half is away. That is a pretty cool mug he brought you. He was in New Orleans or just passing through? It usually takes me a few days to get my appetite up too, I hope you don’t do like I normally do and eat everything in sight. Thanks for linking up with us and for your support Marcia!

Our weather had been so dreary – rainy and COLD. I had to get my coat out again. That salad does look yummy though.

It’s good to see you were feeling well enough for a trail run. You’ve definitely paid your dues to the evil sickness fairy. YAY. You got a NOLA cup. We can be coffee twins. I’m going to check our Meru. I am fascinated by stories like that. Good question. Who foots that bill? Thanks for linking with us Marcia.

I am glad you are on the mend now and that is great the trail run felt good 🙂 That is a good sign this week will be a lot better.
I can’t imagine mountain climbing like that!

Bummer you were sick all week, I’m glad you’re feeling better!

It’s definitely not totally spring here yet…it’s supposed to snow tonight for some reason.

Glad you are feeling better! I was mildly sick all week but it wasn’t something that deterred me from working out- thankfully. I am feeling back to normal except as soon as I felt good I got my freaking period so I can enjoy THAT for a couple days now. AUGH!

    That salad looks delish!

Glad you are rebounding…being sick sucks. I was under the weather a few weeks ago, and felt like that was 7 days I’ll never get back (I kept on with all my stuff because we were going on vacay…but I spent most of that time in a fog). Winter resurfaced in Iowa this weekend, just in time for the start of spring. Nice timing, huh!

Seems like something is really going around & I guess I got off lightly (knocks on wood).

    No spring here! Not yet!

But no snow on the ground either, and that’s a real win at this time of year!

So sorry you had such a tough week with being sick. Our pollen has come out in full force and I struggled with a sore throat for half of the week. Thankfully I was okay for my race yesterday. The salads from Cheesecake Factory are tasty, but I agree they are not the most healthy choice. I still get them every time though.

  19. Lesley says

    March 21, 2016 at 8:49 am

I’m not really sure how healthy Cheesecake Factory salads are, even without fried stuff. I know they’re huge, but I figure if I’m already there, I’ll splurge. I’ll get something I know I can take home, so I spread out all those calories. And cheesecake. Must have cheesecake.
