Running Genie in a Bottle

February 20, 2017

This week the Tuesdays on the Run Linkup has a special guest. The Running Genie is out of the bottle (or the lamp??) and ready to grant you 3 wishes. What would you wish for?

This seemed easy. Until it wasn’t. Here’s what I came up with:

1.  Permanent pass on injury. That’s right, no more injuries. Ever. No cranky hips, no strained body parts, no spinal voodoo, no cuts, scrapes or bruises. I’m ordering up one healthy runner for the duration.

2. Permanently stay at ideal running weight. I’m looking at you middle age spread and a’hole thyroid.

3. Resources (time, money) to run all the races and in all the places I desire. If the genie can get that money tree in the yard to thrive, we’d be off to a very good start, just saying.

What 3 wishes would you ask the Running Genie for? Stop by and tell us! #totr #runchat #running

This is gonna be fun to see what everyone is wishing for! I totally spaced on having Jon Bon Jovi waiting for me at the finish line…..I guess I have four wishes LOL

I am so with you on the injury pass. I think that will be what alot of runners wish for! And I also wished for time, but more to train and get stuff done each day rather than to race/travel. But it would be nice to have the time and money to do those things!

Yup- being injury free. And pain free. Having healthy and painless runs is really the best!

All great wishesMarcia & I’m with you on all 3! Right about now I’m wishing all the snow & ice to be gone (still some hanging around) so I can run in some new scenery already!

    Yes to alllllll of those!!!

My money tree keeps shriveling up. Whomp whomp.

I like them! Especially the money tree! Can you send me a sprout when you get it going? I will plant it right next to my pineapples where it will be happy!

Can I get in on that injury pass? That sounds like an awesome deal!

I thought about the injury thing but right now I’m all about no more RA!

  9. Kimberly Hatting says

    February 21, 2017 at 7:25 am

Yes to the permanent pass on injury! Running would be so much more enjoyable.

Yes, never getting injured should be the top of my wish list! Can a genie really make that happen? LOL!

Yes to no more injuries for me too running genie! My number one wish is to have running friends to go to races with. My hubby will gladly take me from time to time but he’s not a runner. We moved to his hometown in October and I feel a little more isolated. A lot of the women who run here are competitive and take the fun out of running. I don’t like being around them. I need positive and encouraging people. I hope you’re having a great week!

Yes! No injuries… EVER! I agree!

  13. Kristin says

    February 21, 2017 at 8:29 am

    Easy and not too original…
    1) No more running injuries.
    2) Lose the 10 pounds that would put me back at my happy weight (and not gain them back).
    3) Get back my (modest) speed–4 hour marathon, 2 hour half, 25 minute 5K.
(Bonus–I wouldn’t say no to any entry to the London Marathon.)

Argh! I forgot to wish for an endless supply of money! I’m figuring out that three wishes may not be enough! Number one has GOT to be number one… Always. Thanks for the linkup.

I’d love a permanent fix on injury. I wrote 3 wishes, but had a 4th one. I wish shoe companies wouldn’t change the models that work so well, but I think that’s a dream more than a wish.

    February 21, 2017 at 9:33 am

I agree with ALL three. Esp #3!! Let the girls weekends begin!

  17. Megan says

    February 21, 2017 at 11:01 am

I should have wished for my body to stop aging! I mean, these are wishes right?! And definitely the resources wish — that is a MUST! Thanks for hosting!

  18. Marsha says

    February 21, 2017 at 1:01 pm

Totally no more injuries! All the money for all the races and shoes and clothes.

  19. Jenn says

    February 21, 2017 at 4:58 pm

Ha! I’d love that one tree too! Races can be costly

  20. Kimberly Hatting says

    February 21, 2017 at 5:18 pm

Oh my gosh why did I not think of the weight!?!
I told Mary Beth my 3 would be-
    1. Hitting the lottery so I could quit my day job and fit in running.
    2. No more running injuries!
    3. No crazy illnesses, I understand a cold here and there, that is okay, but none of this nutso thyroid, hormone, whatever stuff we are dealing with.

  21. Fairytales and fitness says

    February 21, 2017 at 6:54 pm

Yup, I think running injury free is on every Runner’s wish list!

  22. Kimberly Hatting says

    February 21, 2017 at 7:35 pm

Well, I guess I need to steal your wishes! No seriously, #1 for sure!!

  23. Coco says

    February 21, 2017 at 8:30 pm

Ah, I think you covered all the bases! I could do without destination races (so I don’t need those funds as much), but #1 and #2 would be fantastic.

  24. Jessica S says

    February 21, 2017 at 10:00 pm

Health and money are common wishes I’m finding. 🙂 Definitely not a surprise!

  25. Juliana @ 4WellRules says

    February 22, 2017 at 12:32 am

oh I wish I could just get done to my ideal running weight but I know the harder I work it, the more rewarding it will be!

  26. Juliana @ 4WellRules says

    February 22, 2017 at 6:46 am

Yes, please! I would happily take all three of your running wishes too!

Just had meniscus repair surgery so my 1st wish for the running genie is a quick and GOOD healing process so I can get back out there and run again! It’s been too long!!!

  28. vicki says

    February 22, 2017 at 1:30 pm

Great ones… I’d also add ideal running conditions.

  29. Emily @ Out and About says

    February 22, 2017 at 3:47 pm

YES YES YES on all three of these wishes. I’d also add that I’d love to have an unlimited free supply of running shoes and gear that I could be trying out on my daily whim! That’s probably too much to ask, though, right? LOL

    February 23, 2017 at 3:30 am

We share 2 of the same wishes. Injury free and resources. I need a genie!

I just have some simple wishes. They are that my family will always be healthy and that my parents stop aging.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
