Caught Napping

December 2, 2009

Yesterday’s run almost didn’t happen because I overslept….again. I was dreaming about doing a triathlon, not sure I was actually participating…I think I was a spectator. Of course it was the swim leg (the most terrifying to this notorious dog paddler). The swimmers were circling the block of a neighborhood near where I grew up. Whatever that all means I don’t know. What I do know is I woke up too late to get my run in. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Are you sitting down? This earlybird pulled out the stops and snuk in a run at night. Totally living on the edge aren’t I? It was on the  treadmill since I am single parenting this week, but after sundown nonetheless. I shook things up even further with some speed ( I use that term loosely) intervals and …wait for it….a couple of hill intervals too. What is this world coming to?

About those 100 pushups: I am shocked to announce that somehow I managed to complete Week 5 of this challenge. This odyssey has gotten beyond ridiculously hard. But onto Week 6 I go.

Weighty Matters: Thanksgiving has left me packing 2 extra “festivity” pounds. Apparently the sugar-free car on my whole foods train derailed into a syrupy ditch smack dab in the heart of Sweetsville. Yesterday should have been day 1 of my sugar-free redo…but some aerosol whipped cream and mint m&ms got in the way. The battle rages on.

I am impressed with the push ups! I am having a hard time keeping up with the challenge. I feel like I have so much else going on, that has been put on the back burner. I really need to do them though ๐Ÿ™‚

Great job getting on the treadmill at night. I know that drill with kiddos. Ugh.

The pushup challenge. Okay, I have nothing. Nada. My body barely even knows pushups. When will I get back to P90x?? Running is waaaay more fun.

Holiday weight. 2 lbs. You did great. I was more like 4. I think I have gotten back down after the indulgence of Thanksgiving. And usually Christmas isn't as fattening for me.

Good for you getting in a run after sundown. When single parenting and not used to it getting anything done after sundown is near impossible, IMHO.

Good for you on all accounts – yea! Let me know more your week challenge you're doing; I'd love to do something hard like that after I get back from Tucson!

Mint M&M's are to die for. I can't buy 'em cuz I'd zero self-control.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
