Weekend Downs and Ups

December 14, 2009

100 Pushup Challenge: After hemming and hawing for 4 days after completing Week 6, column 3, I finally got up the nerve to try for the whole 100. Well I didn’t get past 77. Can’t say I’m surprised as my incremental improvement has been slow going (my baseline max was 57 so only 20 more after 6 weeks of training??) Modern Caveman was driving me nuts moderating, making sure to tell me when my form went to pot, my hips were sagging, I did not warm up my central nervous system, I checked out after that… Oh  well, BUT the weekend was all UP after that.

New Yoga Top: Yes I got one and it’s hotter than hot. It’ll sear your retinas with it’s striking sleekness. I feel like I’m queen of the pride on a low belly fat day in all of Cougartown when I slip this honey on.
Thing 2’s take on me in said yoga top: “Mom you have really tough muscles!” I guess the damn pushups were good for something.

A Day of Fun with Thing 1: After my 12-miler on Sunday, oldest girl and I went ice skating while Modern Caveman tortured himself with the Packers sweep of the Bears. We had a fun time which was greatly enhanced by my ability to remain upright this time around. We topped it off by making a dent, ok maybe a scratch, in the holiday shopping.

Whole Foods Rematch: The train is back on track! Which is a good thing as I’m heading to the gym for a “fitness assessment”. Intimidated? I sure am. Maybe the hot yoga top will help…

I don't have the courage for that push up challenge!! You are doing great. 77!

Now I've gone and done it haven't I! Cooked my goose I'm afraid….let me just wear it to a yoga class to see if it works as good as it looks before I shoot my big mouth off any further. Plus there's nobody else here beyond the age of 4 to take a glamour shot…I mean pic.

We need a picture of the hot yoga top!! Especially with your arms. Plus, I don't think the Packer game was torturous; I really liked the outcome. And..give the kids a chance at taking a pic, you can always do some cropping and editing if need be.

Man-o-Man—100 pushups. I can barely do 5 and they're the kind on your knees. Not real-hard-core-push-ups. Congratulations. Push-up master indeed.

Thanks for your words of encouragement on my post. Your accomplishments are just awesome!! I wanna be you.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
