My Cheating Heart

February 6, 2010

I’ve done it again. Once a cheater always a cheater I guess. You may remember I had  a shoe, um, shall we say, transgression last summer when I was deep in marathon training for Columbus. I made a rash decision to break up with my Mizunos for a cuter, lighter Nike. Gory details here:

But then, like so many affairs do, it came to a horrible, blistering end. More gory details here.
So now what have I gone and done? Seduced by an innocent looking Road Runner Sports coupon, I bought not 1….not 2….but 3 pairs of shoes. Geez committing that to cyberspace makes me feel like the Tiger Woods of shoe polygamy…a shoe-timer…heaven help me.

The first pair arrived yesterday. The second was sitting on my doorstep today. The third contender is backordered. Oh who doesn’t love to play a little ‘hard to get?’

As part of my therapy, I will out my potential paramours soon.

You are too funny! A shoe-timer, that's great! Hope the new shoes treat you better than the Nikes!

LOL! Make sure you give them all equal time so there's no jealousy. ;o)

I've never had a threesome (or it is a foursome?) before… how can you give each shoe equal time? One is bound to get jealous.

I can't wait for all the juicy details! I'm considering investing in trail shoes (I'm writing this in the other room so my 11 pairs of Mizunos don't see it) and I know how you feel!

    Hi Marcia,
Well you did a good job of making me laugh this morning….I needed that!! So far I am an Asics woman but that doesn't mean I will not ever change:) I listen to reviews and if something doesn't feel right when I am running or if I start to have issues with my feet….I too may be a cheating shoe-timer:)

Three?! Wow. I have a feeling you're going to have your own show on VH1 soon. I'm not sure what they'll call it, but "Shoe-timer," will be the working title.

Too funny – I just did the exact same thing. Three pairs, only one made the grade. ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm writing about it in a few weeks once I get some mileage on my new pair. You'll have to post a new shoe review.

I'm too scared to order shoes online and we don't have any running stores here to try any on so I'm stuck with my asics until I make it to Oklahoma City, Good luck with your shoes and be sure to tell us which ones you love the most, don't worry, we won't tell the others.

Wow, I'm impressed. There's hardly anything better than a new pair of running shoes. Wait – how about 3 pairs!!

Can't wait to hear about them.

I'm so strait-laced. I got a new pair of shoes yesterday – that's right just one! Worst part is that it's pouring raining today and there's no way that I can take my pretty new shoes for a run. Couldn't get them wet.

I have two pairs from Running Warehouse awaiting me. Great prices. Couldn't resist. Are yours all the same brand or are you playing the field?

that's not cheating… that's just being a female runner ๐Ÿ˜‰ i have a hard time not buying new shoes. sometimes i have a solid stash of new shoes yet to be worn and yet i still see shoes and go "oh i need those!". at least i'm not buying dress shoes anymore? right?

  19. Priyanka says

Haha, trรจs funny! Running shoes are addictive and the only thing that made me stop buying more than 2 pairs was the fact that they have the same shelf-life whether you use them or not.

    Enjoy the excess!

Too funny. My running partner is a total shoe whore – constantly buying the newest, coolest looking shoes and then regretting it later.

  21. Rio says

    February 7, 2010 at 8:25 pm

As a fellow runner with ..um..more than 1 pair of running shoes right now, I'd justify it by saying it's good to have back-up(s) in case your primary shoe was used less than 24 hours ago, is wet, dirty, etc. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for checking out my blog. I love your sense of humour on the shoes, very witty. Well if that stay at home thing doesn't work out I am sure you have a career out there in writing, or maybe that is the world you came from. Love it!

LOL LOL!!! Love your shoe cheating post ๐Ÿ™‚ Very entertaining!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
