Sugarfree Friday Randomness

August 12, 2011

1. Yes, I’m sugar-free once again. Today is day 4. After the birthday celebrations that filled June and July, buttercream became a mainstay in my diet and I had 4.5 excess pounds on my hips to show for it. It was time to hit the reset button. I’m not combing ingredient lists to totally exorcise the sweet stuff but I’m eating very little processed food.
Keys to success so far?
Stay very busy, preferably out of the house at my witching hour: late afternoon.
Stay satisfied with protein
Pound veggies and water
Be more mindful of popping a goldfish cracker or 17, eating kids’ leftovers, etc.
Special thanks to my Tweeps who talked me down from a ledge last night. You are the best!

I’m not sure yet how long I’ll stay sugar-free. Anyone wanna join me?

2. My marathon shoes arrived yesterday! That always makes things more real. Way more purple than expected. Time to shake and bake. Actually we’ve done plenty of baking in this heat already.

3. Do I know you? Did you ever know someone who, even after you’ve met…on several occasions…still acts as though they’re meeting you for the first time? We’ve lived in our neighborhood for 10+ years now. I’ve met all of the neighbors; some I am friendlier with than others. Fine. There is one neighbor who, after meeting and conversing at parties, trick-or-treating, around the neighborhood, etc. on several occasions, over the years, continues to ‘not know me’. I saw her driving to work as I was returning from a run yesterday. I waved. She stared, looking confused as usual. I’m not suggesting we need to remember everyone on a first name basis but come on. Maybe I’m just that mousey and forgettable? Or I remind her of someone she doesn’t like? Or I need to invite her over to play a memory game…

Have a fun weekend!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
