Tommie Copper Review

August 11, 2011

With at least two (possibly more) marathons coming up this fall, the miles are piling up and I’m doing what I can to minimize the stress on my body. When the folks at Tommie Copper asked me to try their compression products, I was more than happy to.

Tommie Copper compression gear is made from copper-infused yarns designed to relieve pain resulting from muscle, circulatory and inflammatory conditions.
According to the Tommie Copper website:
Copper
Has been used in medicine for thousands of years
Stimulates the immune system
Helps repair injured tissues
Promotes healing
Neutralizes free radicals
Compression:
Stabilizes muscles
Increases blood flow
Reduces inflammation
Expedites recovery
Helps reduce DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness)

Due to my sordid history of ITB and achilles injuries, I tried the calf sleeves and a knee sleeve.
My impressions:
All sleeves were stretchy, comfortable, very lightweight and easy to put on.
They stayed in place throughout my workouts.
I wore them after hard workouts.
I even slept in them a few times.

Here I am in the sleeves after some tempo action.
No it’s not nighttime, just one of our many outrageous storms looming.
Here’s a feeble selfie of the knee sleeve on its own…

…After very long runs I get a little crazy and wear the calf and knee sleeve together. Quite a fashion statement with the blingy sandal don’t you think? Can’t wait to rock this look at PTO meetings this fall.

The Verdict
My legs definitely felt fresher.
I feel like I’m recovering from hard efforts faster.
After my 18-miler in ridiculous heat…wait for it…I felt like I could have done more.
I think Tommie Copper Compression Sleeves are a great tool to have in your arsenal when you’re doing any kind of intense, repetitive work or training.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
