Getting Organized

September 12, 2012

Fall has a unique way of making me want to clean/organize/declutter/fashion useless things from pine cones. Ok I WANT to do the latter but glue guns and I don’t mix so there’s no pine cone thing.

  • I cleaned out the fridge yesterday. I even REMOVED the shelves and scrubbed them.
  • There was a reaping in the kids’ playroom.  The tip of the iceberg but a start all the same.

I am no domestic diva but I am good about getting my race medals down to the basement running shrine.

Race bibs, until now, have been another story. I’m sure I haven’t kept them all. Most of the ones I have are in a manilla envelope or 3. Some were ferreted away in my bathroom vanity, others in the closet. I’m confident there are more lurking around here somewhere.

When Running on the Wall asked me to review one of their products, the wooden bib hanger called my name. There were a whole bunch of nice ones to choose from. I went with power purple.

It was a trip down memory lane to hang my race bibs. Some are ripped, wrinkled and stained….hey running is hardcore. Some are tiny, some are huge. Some I wrote weird synopses on the back that are hilarious to read so many months/years later. Apparently I am hoarding safety pins in the event of ….oh I don’t know. This bib holder is a very nice, ORGANIZED way to display race bibs.  With the holidays fast approaching, it’s also a cool gift idea. For even more gift ideas, check Running On The Wall out on Facebook too.

Do you save your bibs? Display them? Have a running shrine?

Note: Running on the wall sent me this product free of charge, however my opinions are my own.

Looks great! I keep my bibs but sadly they are stowed away in an overflowing shoe box. I need something like this!

Great way to do it! I have all of two bibs to my name, isn’t that sad? I wish I had started keeping them way back when, but oh well. Then there are all my medals, plaques, etc. sitting in a box in the storage room. Sigh.

I do not get along with glue guns either! Do you hate Michael’s as much as I do?

I love the bib holder. I have a bibfolio from “Gone for a Run” and I have all of my bibs. I like yours because you can see them versus mine that is in a little notebook which has to be opened. Great medal collection. My medals keep me motivated!

I save all my race bibs but haven’t displayed them. I really want to get a medal hanger so I can display my medals in stead of put them in my jewelry box. Christmas list here I come:)

That bib holder is pretty great. I’ve saved some of my bibs, but weirdly not my first marathon. I’m saving them up and I think I’m going to shellac them onto my desk. If I can figure out how.

My bib numbers are in a shoe box in my closet. Each has a finishing time and whether it is mine or the Hubby’s.

My medals hang on my closet door for the year then they get a end of the year blog post then go in a plastic baggie with the year labeled. My bibs sit on my dresser, but I only have a handful of them. I’ve probably run over 300 races…I used to keep them all and write down tidbits about the race on the back. But one day I just thought it was ridiculous to hold onto them…I mean, fun to go down memory lane but honestly, I couldn’t remember many of them anyway so off to the landfill they went. A few I did keep, though :).

No running shrine or anything but I do keep all my bibs. 🙂

I have mine scattered around in various places–no shrine and nowhere to put one. I do keep the really good ones (NYC Marathon, my 5K PR), but most get tossed eventually. The memories are the best part!

I wish I would have kept more… I have a handful, but when I first started racing I didn’t realize there were so many ways to display them. Cute rack!

I’ve never seen a bib hanger! What a cool idea! I used to have mine all taped to my wall and recently put them in a BibFolio.

Love your race shrine! I don’t have anything like that. Me medals are in a box along with all of my bibs. (Pitiful, I know.) I figure some day I’ll get a medal hanger and I plan on creating a race scrapbook for my bibs.

i definitely have a medal shrine! all my bibs are in a bibfolio-i really don’t like it, but i am hoping that allied medal hangers will come out with something like my hanger-but with clips for bibs…

That is quite the collection of medals and bibs. I just started stapling my bibs to the garage wall. I haven’t done that many races so it’s not too gaudy yet 🙂

I need one of those bad boys! Now that we have a 4 bedroom house and aren’t crammed into a teeny tiny 1 bedroom apartment, I can for the dirt time EVER in my life do something with all those bibs and medals!

I’ve got a draw full of bibs in my desk – how organised is that?! Not at all, really. I have a nice shelf, though, with all my trophies and medals on display. Sometimes I look at it and think – ‘wow, you did all that.’

I have all my bibs in order in bibfolios from gonforarun.com. I mark the date and my time on each. they also sell plastic sleeves for them so I try to put int he flyer from the race too 🙂 For my medals I have a rack like the ones you have your bibs on but it says run like a girl 🙂
