Workout Recap and Midweek Fun

February 25, 2013

Last week was a fun one! Here’s how it shook out:

  • Monday: Yoga, upper body weights
  • Tuesday: 5 miles. 5x1000m. Lower body weights/core
  • Wednesday: Rest
  • Thursday: Rest
  • Friday: 5 miles, 3 at tempo pace, weights for legs, core
  • Saturday spin class upper body weights
  • Sunday: 9 miles and change. 3 more miles later. Because it was so nice out, I couldn’t resist.

About that mid-week interlude: I did a bit of jet setting. We packed up the kids and headed north to Montreal for the Maroon 5 concert.

Neon Trees opened. Loved. It. So much stinking fun.

Thing 1 was in her glory. Thing 2 wanted everyone in front of her to sit down so she could see better. Fat chance. Despite how it looks,ย  I promise I wasn’t drinking.

I dredged up just enough french to order this petite dessert platter. I have no clue why I cannot rotate this pic but you get the idea. Should be a dazzling weigh-in this week.

Speaking of gateau, oh my that Adam Levine is a fit, agile young man. I’ll bet his workout routine on the road is far better than mine was. Other than power walking through the airport and gyrating at the concert, pickings were slim on the workout front those days.

How was your weekend? Did you watch the Oscars?

Runs are still going well, now that I’m listening to my heart. Yesterday we were treated to temps in the 40’s and minimal winds. Divine. My 9-miler called for 20 seconds per mile slower than race pace. I have no clue what race pace even is right now, but the run felt great!

I love that you went to that concert with your girls! That pic of you three is adorable!

How fun to go to a concert with kids! I can’t wait until mine are old enough for that.

Did you see us mentioned over on Laura’s blog for our HR training? I love my HR training. I rarely have sucky runs any more because most of them are slow and easy. And it makes the fast ones not suck as much too.

Envying that dessert platter…but I’ve got a couple of sneaky pounds to lose.

I love Adam Levine! What a fun trip!

Sounds like you found a good groove with the HRM – hope it continues for you.

I soooo need to get out more and be a more fun person; I didn’t even know who Adam Levine was until about 2 weeks ago when someone said something to me at work about the guy on ‘The Voice’ – which I think I’ve seen once. You are the funnest mom ever!!

We so need to catch up. Miss you tons!

A little break like that doesn’t demand exercise. Sure if it fits in do it. But if it doesn’t, two days off isn’t going to kill you. Looks like you and your chicks had fun!

My week looked very much like yours, with the combo of running and spinning and some strength. No concert, though. I’m sure your girls will remember that for a long time!

Looks like you had a lot of fun! I’ve seen them in concert way back in 2004, before anyone knew who they were, and they’re still just as lovely. Hope you’re doing ok with the snow!

Looks like you guys had fun! That’s awesome. I went to so many concerts with my parents as a kid. I loved it. I even asked, for my 16th birthday if they’d take me to a Billy Joel/Elton John concert. It was probably the best birthday I’ve ever had.

I love the picture of you and girls! I can tell by your smiles you are having so much fun, and honestly who wouldn’t have fun having Adam Levine sing to them? Enjoy the rest of your week!

Wow. 40 is divine? In my world 40 is acceptable, 60 is divine. Everthing is relative. Congrats on how your training is going! Well done!

Speaking of Adam Levine, my best running friend won paid air fare and hotel to go see him in Orlando (I think it is) next week! She won it off a local radio station. I’m so thrilled for her because it also falls in the week of her birthday. I asked if she was taking me too! HAHAHA! Alas, the husband goes.

Look at the big smile on the girls faces!

I would have been worse than any preteen/teen girl. I love Maroon 5!

I don’t think desserts eaten while enjoying a concert with your kiddos count. At least that’s what I heard.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did.
