Up for Air…Kind Of

May 31, 2013

Between end-of-school festivities (locker clean-out anyone?) and ice show rehearsals (shows are this weekend) I am deep in the swamp of overwhelmediosity.

Instead of speedwork, I’ve been to Hobby Lobby three times this week. Who am I?? There may be a bright future ahead for me and my super sonic crystal glue. Either that or cancer from the horrendous fumes.
sparkly

I feel like a character on Dance Moms, except there’s ice involved. Not the kind that tinkles in a glass on a hot day either. I’ve got the market cornered on glitter hair spray, bobbie pins, bling, tights, more bling, dressing room snacks, sequins and the like.

Instead of a final run, I’ll be on my feet in the school cafeteria today serving hot dogs for Field Day. Then it’s back to the rink for more rehearsals. The final rehearsals commence tomorrow at 6am, followed by not one but two shows. My dogs are already howling.

At some point today I need to hit the running store to get my race packet for Sunday’s Half Marathon.

Yes, Einstein that I am, I registered for a race that goes off a mere 8 or so hours after the final ice show ends. Brilliance. Workouts (other than shuttling nervous ice divas from locker room to ice, maybe I can throw in a lunge or 60?) will not happen today or tomorrow.
What do you do when life gets in the way?

I am right there with you, knee and elbow deep in the end-of-year everything nonsense. I need it to end!

Good luck getting through it all and then running your half!

I am not racing, but you might see me course marshaling your race 🙂

I agree with Kari! Let’s see the finished product!

Hope you aren’t too tired for Sunday!

I hope the ice skating show (contest?) goes off without a hitch!!! I’m glad I don’t have to decorate costumes for anything – it would NOT be pretty!!
Good luck on the race – you will need a nap after that for sure!!!

Ugh. I hear you! The last 4 to 6 weeks of the school year are a killer for moms! Between extra activity days (volunteers please!), hockey and soccer and dance wrap ups and trying to get organized for summer holidays, sometimes, exercise has to take a back seat.

I do try and get a little bit in, but am satisfied with just maintaining the status quo under the chaos ends! Good luck!

That time of the year again. All those diamantes and crystals and sequins are oh so pretty but such a nightmare to put on. I wish you patience and quick-setting glue.

Good luck to everyone! I would love to get my daughter all sparkly for a recital. She did dancing off and on as a little girl but those types of things were never for her. Lucky!

Roll with the punches and hope you don’t get socked in the face…if you do? Go for a run anyway 🙂

Good luck with the shows and take everything out on the race!!!!

Good luck with your busy weekend! I have a crazy weekend too, I need to somehow pick up packet for run tomorrow while also doing a bike ride today. Ay carumba!

When life gets in the way, just roll with it!

3 trips to Hobby Lobby!? Wow! That reminds me of how my mom wouldn’t let me join any group that had costumes when I was little! lol!

I hope things are less crazy this week! Way to keep up with everything! I hope the half went well!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
