MAF Training

September 29, 2013

Shhhh……MAF’ing in progress. I’m slowing it down: 180 minus your age, in case you were wondering. My first outing felt leisurely and feathery light. I’m pretty sure I looked like this:

But soon the Secretariat in me wanted to be done and I fought the urge to pick it up and blaze home. There is a boredom factor to overcome, at least for me.
Not sure how next week’s 5k will fit into the new plan, but stay tuned.

Have you tried MAF training? Do you heart rate train?

I won’t even tell you how slow I’d be running if I did MAF, as a matter of fact, I’d be walking…!

Did you see the prancercize lady on WGN this week? Hilarious!

Wendy I saw the preview but I missed the segment! Agree: SHE IS HILARIOUS!

Been seriously thinking about giving this a try. My thyroid’s been off and I’ve been having palpitations while running fast/hot – might not be a bad idea … for a while.

It must be contagious! I haven’t worn my HRM for some time now but as soon as this current monsoon quits, I just may give it a try.

I can imagine a speedster like you would be bored. hahaaa

I have always done my own thing & did what felt best for me.. it is just who I am & has worked for me so far & 30++ years later…. I guess I just like to make my own rules. 🙂

I haven’t tried this, but one of our friends who is an ultra runner was doing it recently. I don’t know how much success he had with it, but I guess it worked!

Awesome! I haven’t tried it but I’m curious. One of my running clients is interested so we’re going to try it for her. Hope you settle in and enjoy the slow running and benefits!

I tried MAF training for about half a kilometre once. Patently I have no patience.

My heart rate monitor says that my hr is too high the second I strap it on. I said something to the Ironman athletes and they said it’s gone bad and I need a new one. Lovely!

MAFing sounds dirtier than that video you posted. LOLOLOL!

I keep thinking that I should try it but I’m pretty sure I’m not disciplined enough to stick with it. Can’t wait to hear how you like it!

There is most certainly a boredom factor to overcome!! God bless you if you can keep with it…
(PS I don’t buy the age formula!!! Much more accurate to find your max running 4 x400m hills hard and use a simple calculation.) I think you are too fit to use that age calculation.

Those are speakers. I guess the rock and roll bit? I wish it’d been a guitar like the pin.

I hope you also have the Prancercize hair to complete your look!!
