#OneSmallChange Link Up Week 7

November 19, 2013

Time marches on! Have we really been at this change thing for 6 weeks already? Congrats to those of you who’ve been hanging with me and welcome to those who are just joining in! There’s no better time to make small changes. Here’s how the challenge has gone for me so far:

  1. Keep kitchen counters clutter free
  2. Drink at least 64 oz water daily
  3. Do a 2 minute daily plank sequence
  4. Drink warm water with lemon every morning**
  5. Plan meals
  6. Get out for a 10-minute or longer decompression walk on non-running days

The daily walks went really well. It felt great to get out, even on days when it was really cold! On most days I managed a 30-minute walk; I went even longer on a couple of occasions. I’ve been struggling with some extended family issues that seem to be magnified by the upcoming holidays and the walks are helping me cope with that.

This week I’m throwing down the gauntlet:

Perform 2 or more burpees every day

Yep, a whole 2 burpees. Truth be told, I despise them. But I think I can manage two. And while I’m doing them, I’m hoping I might try a third, or a fourth… The plan is to do them right before or after the daily plank sequence and maybe, just maybe I’ll grow to not loathe them as much.

Your turn! What if any, change did you make? How did it go? Remember it’s perfectly fine to stick with a previous change if you feel like you haven’t mastered it. Blog about it anytime before next Tuesday and link up below.

Do you enjoy burpees?

I actually LOVE burpees lol. We do many of them in my krav maga class, so I can bust out a ton of them.

Oh I’m right there with you – I loathe burpees!

I always hated burpees and found them very difficult. Then I did one of Tina Reale’s Boot Camps and at one point actually did a routine that had 125 burpees in it! I was so proud of having been able to do it. But I am not doing them lately at all!

Good luck with it. A worthy #onesmallchange for sure!

Truth be told, I don’t mind doing burps, but since my back hurts after several sessions, I no longer do them. Squat jumps are my new favorite (and good for skiing!)

OMG if you ever get the chance to watch my Deck of Death video… You will KNOW I hate burpees and in fact, cannot do them!! I fell FLAT on my face! I give you so much credit for even wanting to perform one a day!

Ugh. I am so inflexible that every time I try to do a burpee, I feel like my hamstrings are going to pop out at the connection points. I know they are supposed to be great for you, so every now and then I give one a try, scream in agony, lie on the floor for 5 minutes, then go eat cake ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t done a burpee since I was in high school. And it’s got me pondering just how well my pelvic floor would do with the jumps.

I am a burpee lover, but only if I don’t have to do more than 10 or so in a row. They really get the blood flowing and muscles warmed up.

Oh gosh, the only burpee’s I do are after I drink a tall glass of Perrier! I with you, they stink!

I hate Burpees. They hurt my back so I do modified ones. I have been doing well with 3 of my small changes. Need to focus in December! Good thing I am avoiding Thanksgiving by going on vacation!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t love burpees but don’t hate them, either! I’ve been trying to plank most days and can see adding these to the end. The water-drinking is one that I gotta get better at – I do it well during the summer but don’t want water when it’s cold out! Reaching for glass right now….

I think 2 burpees a day is quite a change. I don’t like them either. Nor do I understand when someone claims they like them. I’m loving your small changes!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
