Throwback Thursday: Anniversary Edition

November 14, 2013

wedding

On this day in 1998 I married the Caveman.

Years married: 15
Homes lived in: 4
Countries Lived in: 2 (US and UK)
Kids: 2
Dogs: 2
Engagement: 6 months
Where we met: A corporate golf league
How our relationship advanced: Golf got competitive. There may have been trash talk…ok there was. Golf season ended. A weight lifting challenge was put forth by the Caveman. In 6 weeks time, he’d bench press at least twice what I could to win. So clueless me put aside my 2.5 lb princess bells, hired the most muscle-bound trainer I could find and worked my tail off. Showdown day came, I benched an impressive (so I thought) 125 lbs. He hoisted 310 and won easily. So I married him and the rest is history. He’s the yin to my yang. The guy who never seems to be listening, yet he ‘hears’ me. A match made in muscle-bound, challenge-filled heaven.

How did you meet your partner?

Happy anniversary. Men and competition, eh? Very cute. I celebrated 4 years last week and met my hubby at work. Scandalous. πŸ™‚

I think this summarizes my husband perfectly: “The guy who never seems to be listening, yet he β€˜hears’ me.”

Mike and I met in Maine at a party thrown by mutual friends…when we both lived in Connecticut.

Happy Anniversary! I love your story! Hee hee. I noticed your guns right away and appreciate the challenges you two pushed each other to!

I met Steven at a frat party in college! LOL! Neither of us liked parties like that – we were both accompanying friends, so it’s funny to us that we met that way πŸ˜‰

That’s a movie scenario if ever I heard one. Who would you like to play you?

Happy Anniversary and may you have many more happy years to come!

I met Husband while I was an intern at work. He was a full-time employee. We went on our first date right before I left to go back to school (which was 300 miles away). Kept in touch at first by letters and phone (back before cellphones and email). The rest is history…

Happy Anniversary!!!! Nice story of a beautiful couple.
A common friend introduced myself to a beautiful girl more than 36 years ago, we got married in 1979 and we are happily together with …. 2 children, 2 grandsons, 3 cats, I don’t know how many fishes and … a family of bats under our roof!

That’s hilarious! I love it! And 125 is impressive! I met my husband when he was going to college with my brothers….he took the Van Wilder route and was still there when I got there. They told him to watch out for me, and boy, did he ever!

I met my wife in high school. I was in the band room playing Styx – Come Sail Away on the piano and she walked in. If it wasn’t love at first site, it was close. Dated for six years and have been married for 25.

I love your story! What a fun way to get to know someone. I also love how competitive you were from the get go.

I met my husband at work.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
