Runners’ Holiday Gift Guide

December 5, 2013

A portion of this post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Koss.
holidaygiftguide
How did everybody do with Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Still more gifts to buy? You’re in luck because I have a bunch of my favorites sure to please the active people on your list. Don’t forget to treat yourself too! Let’s get started:

janji

1. 1/4 zip pullover. When you purchase this pullover, you’re also giving one person in Tanzania a full year of clean drinking water. The styling, functionality and quality is top notch. I love the distinctive pattern on the arm and shoulders and bright yellow accents. Like nothing I’ve seen before. Each piece of high-performance clothing you buy from Janji helps fund solutions and raise awareness of a global food and water crisis in a lasting way. Prices start at $18 and go up to $74. Definitely check them out.

fitbit

2. FitBit One: I had the privilege of being a Verizon Voices Ambassador this year and one of the ‘toys’ I had the pleasure of testing was the FitBit one. It was eye opening and fun at the same time to track my activity. Although I came within 1″ of submerging mine in the pool last summer, and I was convinced I’d lost it once, I still wear it every single day. I love the challenge of getting in 10k steps and 10 flights of stairs. FitBits will definitely be showing up in some stockings around here.

koss

3. Koss FitSeries Earbuds: Koss FitClips and FitBuds are the brainchild of Koss’ female designers and Olympic Gold Medalist Dara Torres. They’re designed for women, by women. I wear FitClips for running. The colored part wraps around my ear while the bud snaps in place and does not budge, yet it’s so light, I feel like it isn’t there. Because my ears are petite flowers (ok that’s the last time I’ll say that) I wear FitBuds to the gym with the smallest cushions–they come with 3 different cushion sizes to assure the perfect fit. Koss FitClips and FitBuds are a perfect gift for the active ladies in your life. They each sell for $19.99 and can be found at WalMart, Best Buy, Walgreens, Kmart and Sears.

ornament

4. Ornaments: I was lucky enough to win this fab ornament in a blog giveaway a couple of years ago and I still get comments and questions about it constantly. It’s from Milestone’s Sports Jewelry and Apparel and I’ve since become a rather frequent customer (hello running charms). Definitely check them out for unique, fun running and sports-related gifts.

5. Massage! I may be getting myself an entire package of sports massages. Everybody knows runners are rigid and inflexible and renowned for neglecting the tired old body. I know I sure am. I won’t recommend any certain place because this tends to be a local thing but a massage or 6 would be an awesome gift.

Those socks look fantastic. I could use them this weekend! I love to give framed family pics to my family. So at Thanksgiving we usually take some pics and I like to print them and frame them for Christmas.

  6. Lisa says

This will sound corny, but my favorite gift to give is a little of myself. I guess it’s because my love language is quality time rather than gifts. One of the most fulfilling things that I’ve done this year is mentor a high school student who is struggling academically. She gets a few hours of my time every few weeks and it looks like she’s improving tremendously this semester. It just doesn’t get much better than that.

Having said that…I’m really not a scrooge when it comes to gives, even though it might seem like it!

  16. Char says

    December 5, 2013 at 6:26 pm

I was having fairly regular massages when I was training for my marathon but stopped after it was over. I’m thinking that I need to reinstate those fun hours of self-inflicted torture.

  17. Jen says

    December 5, 2013 at 6:30 pm

I have a daughter and two nieces around the same age. Also, both of those nieces have birthday parties this weekend. So….. they are all getting tutu’s, princess dresses, crowns, and plastic clunky princess shoes.

  18. Jim says

    December 5, 2013 at 6:52 pm

While our identical triplet 17 year old daughters look very much alike their individual interests are quite varied which makes gift giving time fun – even their taste in clothes is a tad different and individual.

  19. Teresa M. says

    December 5, 2013 at 7:36 pm

My favorite gift to give is something that shows I really know the person receiving the gift.

  20. Carla says

    December 5, 2013 at 7:51 pm

I think I’ll just send this post out to people and let them know that I would be happy with anything from it.

I love to cook for people as a holiday gift. And bake. I can’t control my desire to do that. I hope they all aren’t just pretending to love it!

  21. Kim Curtis says

    December 5, 2013 at 8:19 pm

I always give my home made sourdough rolls, My grand mother handed down to me, they are so good that I opened a bakery many years ago just by word of mouth that I was making her rolls.

I love to give gifts that help someone who doesn’t ask for help. Like basketball sneakers for the kid on the junior high team that didn’t have any. That stuff makes me happy.

  24. Kim says

    December 5, 2013 at 8:49 pm

I haven’t done any shopping – not even 1 little thing – I am going to go into panic mode soon I think!!

  25. Steel Springs says

    December 5, 2013 at 9:51 pm

I like giving gifts that are unexpected – they fit the person getting the gift, but he didn’t even necessarily know that he “wanted” it beforehand. I don’t end up successfully coming up with this kind of gift very often, but it’s fun when I do.
