Marathon Training with Coeur Sports

July 2, 2014

The following post is sponsored by Fit Approach on behalf of Coeur Sports.

If you hang out with me here you know that, after waiting in the lottery since 2011, this is FINALLY my year to run the New York City Marathon and I’m more than a little excited about it. Although training doesn’t officially start until next week, I’ve been ramping up my long run and wrapping my head around distances beyond the half marathon. Something I haven’t done since I ran Marine Corps in 2012.

Since it’s hot, I’ve been getting my runs in as early as possible, but acclimating to the heat is a necessary evil. Just in time to commence NYCM training, Coeur Sports sent me their uber cute Checkmate run shorts and tank. I love that the top is white (all the better to reflect heat) and I adore the pretty blue accents.

The wicking fabric is really nice, high quality. The shorts feature a comfy and flattering wide waistband. I was going to call them out for not having a pocket, but on closer inspection there are two–perfect for a key or gel. A runner can never have too many pockets, right?

I was so excited about my new getup, I took it out immediately on a steamy 10-mile spin through the ‘hood. It fit and moved with me just right with no pulling or chafing whatsoever.

Impressive for sure. Turns out Coeur Sports Activewear is designed by athletes for athletes, so they’ve covered the bases on quality, fit and function. No special care is required either: I just tossed it in the machine to wash and let it air dry. There’s been no color fading or bleeding at all. Did I tell you how much I love this fabric? Coeur Sports makes a variety of running and triathlon apparel in really distinctive designs. Definitely check them out.

I am heading to North Carolina today for the holiday weekend where we will also celebrate the Caveman’s milestone birthday and have our little strength showdown. I’ll be posting highlights on the MHS Facebook page and Instagram.

Have a fun, safe and active holiday weekend!

I have a few friends who race for Ceour sports and they swear by their clothes (and say they would even if they had to pay for them!). I love the pattern on your shirt!

Hope you get good weather in N.C!

The fabric is what sold me! It feels like you’re not wearing anything! And the shorts liner does not ride up. Win win!

I’m so excited for you running the NY marathon. I remember my first time I ran there. So many people, so noisy, cars heard honking. Then we all saw a man with the starter’s pistol coming up above the starting line, everyone became silent, anxious or maybe excited. Silence echoed as I hear my pulse racing up! Jitters lol! I hope you have fun!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
