Weekend Wrapup: Mushroom Cloud Edition

February 16, 2015

Mushroom-cloud

The mushroom cloud happened bright and early Friday morning, yes Friday the 13th, when my computer told me to hurry up and print some kind of instructions because the hard drive was corrupt. Nice. My life, passwords, bookmarks, and all the pictures I had stored on my computer flashed before my eyes.

What’s a girl with a blownup ‘puter to do? Drown her sorrows in a Valentine’s Raspberry Mocha, that’s what.

Valentine’s Day was low key, as it always is, and that’s just fine with me. The weather here was pretty horrific but nothing can keep me away from the pool…right. A water aerobics class was a nice distraction. I was digging their jams and maybe relaxing the tiniest bit. I even tried some backstroke (win!) and some breast stroke (epic fail).  Things got weird when the instructor made them partner up and drag each other through the water on pool noodles. I’m all for pool noodles, heck I wish I could use one in my tri. But being dragged around on one by some hairy water-aerobics guy is not my idea of a fun workout. I had to look away. If I wanted weird, I’d have gone to see 50 Shades.

We hit up Walker Brothers where I went for the gusto with a blueberry Belgian waffle. It was over the top and delicious all at once. I’ll need a 20-miler to burn off this sucker.

Sunday should have been long run day for me, alas zero is my cutoff for running outside and we were well below. I could have milled, I guess, but Caveman and I did an excellent step mill followed strength workout instead.

Strength is my favorite

I told you strength is my favorite right now and it’s like old times working out with my man. I suppose I’ll have to dig my running mojo out of the deep freeze sooner or later.

The rest of the weekend was all about family time in front of a roaring fire. Oh and The Bachelor special. And the SNL Anniversary Special too.

This week is all about getting my running and my diet back on track. I’m a Diet-To-Go Ambassador and I just happen to have had a week of fresh meals delivered. They could not have come at a better time. Typically I use DTG as convenient fill-ins for a meal here and there when I don’t have time to cook something healthy. This time around, I’m going to spend the week enjoying Diet-To-Go exclusively, to help me get out of the sweets and snacks habit. I’ll be back with a full review on how the week in meals went. If you’d like to join me, code DTGA127 gets you 25% off your first Diet-To-Go order.

weekend update

I’m linking up today with Tara’s Weekend Update.

What was fun for you this weekend? Are you off for President’s Day today? Has your computer ever blown up?

It’s so cold! I don’t want to do my long run. I just don’t. But if I don’t this week could be dicey.

Did you have to get a new computer? I’ve started putting a lot of stuff in the cloud so my life won’t completely blow up if my computer does.

I had a mini computer meltdown scare a few weeks ago but I was able to get it back up and running without losing anything, luckily! Now I make sure to always back up my files!!
I also avoid running outside if its below zero. It also depends on the windchill…but there was no way I was running yesterday! Just walking to my car I felt like my face was going to freeze off and I almost got knocked over by a gust of wind!

Not off today, the college I work at is rarely off on Monday holidays. We had a pretty relaxing weekend too, we did get in our 14 miler on Saturday but I skipped my run yesterday (and did a 30 mile ride instead).

PS. Backstroke – love it! Breaststroke – hated it!

I am always having mini computer meltdowns. I stress that I will lose everything for sure. Glad you enjoyed a nice and low key V-Day weekend!

Oh, my gosh, Marcia; computer meltdowns are the WORST! I’m so sorry you had to deal with that; I need to back up my stuff more often – ha! Diet To Go sounds fantastic; so convenient and healthy. Thanks for sharing this discount and congrats on your ambassadorship; can’t wait to see what you think. Thanks so much for linking up with the blog this week; hope your week is off to a great start.

Chris had the day off but the boys had school and I had to clean the venue (Chris helped!!).
We have had 2 external hard drives die in the past few years – not good since they have all of our old home videos, pictures….I found a computer guy last week who says he can fix it finally!

Oh how I love the water aerobics ladies…so funny to picture the noodle dragging. Kudos on backstroke! I am a one-trick pony with my strokes; freestyle or nothing, baby!

We have had awful weather all weekend, too. And I can’t even begin to believe that we are getting snow tonight and then colder temps later in the week. Make it stop!

I had a computer die on me in college. With papers on it that needed to be turned in! Luckily I usually wrote rough drafts out on paper beforehand, so it wasn’t as disastrous as it could have been.

I got out for a fun, if chilly, 7 mile run with my running group on Saturday before it got insanely cold. Now I’m avoiding going outside as much as possible.

computer hell! oh no! yes I have had that happen and it sux! Looks like a fun weekend except for 0 degrees and the weird noodle swim class thing. Hopefully this is my last week and then I can get out running too!

Worked today…boo. Made up for it by buying new running pants at lunch! I ate too much Valentine’s junk over the weekend..boo. I think aqua aerobics would be fantastically entertaining.

oh no!! did you have to buy a new one? i keep a hard drive with everything backed up on it but probably need to do it more often. we literally had breakfast for dinner saturday night and exchanged gifts friday before my family came in town. it was my kind of valentines day!

Oh, so you didn’t go see 50 shades…that would have heated you up sufficiently for an outdoor run!

Computer meltdowns are the worst! Reminds me I need to do a better job of backing up my stuff – were you able to save everything? The noodle dragging in the pool must have been quite the scene – yay for the backstroke!

Valentine’s Day is low-key for us too. I really think it’s evolved into another way people can shame other people on Facebook. My boyfriend loves me more than yours and our relationship is soooo much better.
