#WIAW: A Day in Life w/a Meal Delivery Service

February 18, 2015

I was so happy to finally get the scale moving in the right direction when I did Laura’s 21-Day Reset back in September. Through the holidays though, I managed to gain back all 6 of those hard fought pounds. Not running nearly as much, habitual, mindless snacking, plus holiday indulgences are to blame.

I’ve enjoyed Diet-to-Go meals in the past but I never ate them exclusively for weightloss. Rather I’d have one or two a day because they’re a super convenient way of getting in a healthy meal without planning, cooking or prep work.

This week, Diet-to-Go is my personal chef. They delivered fresh meals right to my door. You can choose the traditional menu, vegetarian or lo-carb. I chose the 1600 calorie, lo-carb plan. I requested no seafood, since I’m not the biggest fan. Yes, you can make requests and change up the plans with no hassle.

Here’s how yesterday went:

kale fritatta

Breakfast was a kale and swiss fritatta with chicken sausage. Typically I don’t eat this much for breakfast, although I know it’s the right thing to do. I ate it early enough that it fueled my run without bogging me down. I loved it. Seriously so good. I felt great about getting veggies in first thing too.

burger

Lunch was a grilled burger with Swiss cheese, creamed spinach and mixed veggies. Super tasty and not diet-like in the least. Color me satisfied.

chicken with red pepper sauce

Dinner was early because we had a meeting at school last night. I made chili for the Caveman while I went with Diet-to-Go’s Chicken Breast with red pepper sauce, greens and veggies. This too was absolutely delicious and way more elaborate than what I’d usually cook myself. The sheer volume of fresh veggies with each meal blows my mind.

All Diet-to-Go meals can heated up in the oven or microwave. Because we no longer have a microwave, I put them in the toaster oven. So easy.

Cravings? So far this week I’m still struggling with the urge for something sweet (a cookie or a piece of chocolate) in the afternoon after lunch. This is habitual, and it sets me up for an afternoon of indulging. Certainly I am not hungry. I know this urge will fade if I can stay strong, keep myself busy and away from sweets.

Weightloss: I’d already lost a pound last week because I was buckling down. This week I’m down another pound already. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the week plays out.

Concerns: I am not starving throughout the day, although I wake up in the morning quite hungry. Maybe this is a good thing? I suspect that if I were to increase my running mileage (which is quite low right now) I’d have to supplement this plan with a couple of healthy snacks. Not a big deal at all, because Diet-to-Go has a free tracking app online and for your phone so staying on top of food/water intake as well as activity is a no-brainer.

Try it for yourself! Save 25% off your first Diet-to-Go order with code DTGA127.ย

I’ll keep you posted on how the rest of my week in meals goes! Have you ever tried a meal delivery service? Do you struggle with sugar cravings?

Can’t believe how good these actually look. Normally I’d think pre-made meals and not expect anything good. I’m impressed. Am afternoon sweet treat is my weakness too. Cut out all sugar in February to get control of that habit.

Diet to Go sounds like a great solution for when life gets super busy and you’re trying to avoid take out and other unhealthy alternatives. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve never tried a meal delivery service. It looks and sounds great from your pictures! I’m not the greatest cook so this would be a great way to try new things. Only thing stopping me is price so I’ll have to look into it more.

They offer Diet-To-Go at my gym and I have always taste tested them when they were giving out samples. They weren’t bad at all and probably something I need to consider more in order eat more often. Today I ran out without eating and it was not good. I have to eat and sometimes my limited time doesn’t allow me to get it in. ๐Ÿ™ This may be the answer.

these meals look good! Do they deliver the prepackaged meals and you warm up? Is this an individual plan or can it be adapted to a 2 person plan? Looks interesting.

I have never tried a meal delivery service. To be quite honest, I’m not sure who would deliver all the way out here in the mountains, haha!

I love love the convenience of meal delivery but the few I’ve tried fell short on quality of meals.

Congrats on the progress! You’re doing great!

I struggle with both the sweets and the salts. I love chocolate but I also love chips! I just try not to keep them in the house because, thankfully, I’m far too lazy to make a special trip to the store for an indulgence.

This is intriguing. I listen to some podcasts that advertise different meal delivery services. If I was near one, I would try it.
