Changes to the Race Schedule

March 5, 2015

I’m not sure what it is about this year but my racing schedule seems to be in flux more than usual. I’m getting off to a later start than usual with no races until April, but given our ridiculous winter, that’s A-OK with me. Here’s how it’s looking now. Things in red were taken out. Things in green are new additions.

4/4: Eggshell Shuffle 5k with the kids

4/18: CARA 10 Miler

4/23: Patriot Tri: This is a teeny tiny tri with a POOL SWIM!! I hope it will help ease the intimidation factor going into Espirit de She. Thing 1 is doing it as part of a relay team. She’ll take the run leg. I’m doing the whole thing on my own. A big part of me wants to sit this one out and cheer for Thing 1’s team, but this will be good for me (if I don’t drown in the enormous pool which I cannot stand up in).

4/25: RnR Nashville. A family event + Nashville hotels well over $300/night = not gonna happen.

napervill tri

6/14: Espirit de She Tri

8/16: Fort 2 Base Nautical 10 Miler. It’ll probably be cray hot again but I love this race and the earlybird price was right!

Labor Day weekend TBD: This spot is begging for a half marathon, dontcha think?

Twin Cities Marathon

10/4: Twin Cities Marathon: Apparently I’ll run a marathon if it means a girls’ weekend. Seriously this race was a DNS due to injury for me in 2011 so there’s unfinished business here.

rocknblog

10/17-18: RnR St. Louis

10/25: RnR Vancouver

11/15: RnR Vegas

I’m linking up today with Amanda for Thinking Out Loud Thursday.

What does your race schedule look like? Do you make changes as you go? Will I see you at any of these?

My race schedule is pretty much always a work in progress! I am loving the Rock N Tour pass since it gives you so much flexibility and you don’t have to worry about the price increases. Yay for RnR Vancouver and Las Vegas! I am eyeing both of those more and more seriously myself. =)

Yes on Labor Day Weekend always being a great one for a half! And woo hoo for Twin Cities – I’ve heard the course is gorgeous!

Vancouver! That would be such an awesome spot for a race and vacation all rolled into one. I think it’s a great idea that you are doing the pool tri to kick things off, too.

I am starting to put my race schedule together and I’m getting excited about it.

My race schedule is set for the spring but the fall is a crap shoot. I’m going to enter the lottery for Chicago and pray for no more mama drama so I can train. I have a few backup marathons picked out in case I don’t get in. I’d love to travel with you to one of the RnR races but finances are tight thanks to the above mentioned drama. Grrr…

But we have CARA, right? And maybe i’ll jump in FtB…let’s see how things go…

I’m not sure which hotels you were looking into for Nashville, but there are tons of nice ones that aren’t $300 a night. 🙂

Yikes, $300/night for a hotel in Nashville! That’s crazy, and not a city where I’d think hotels would be super expensive.

Surprisingly, my race schedule is set until September 27th, my A race. I don’t think it is changing this year because they are all triathlons and my coach won’t let me change it.
But earlier I used to sign up for races on a whim! Before the days of races selling out in advance.

As of right now I have no race schedule (waiting to see when my body will start to cooperate…) but I’m hoping to maybe do Twin Cities this fall!

You are really on top of things! I only have my races for the spring and the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th in place at the moment. Not really sure what the fall is going to hold yet. But I did Vegas last year and it was the most fun I’ve had this side of a Disney race 🙂

I just signed up for my first three races ever – walking 3 5Ks this year.

Plans were made to be changed. I can’t understand how people can plan out their whole year of racing months in advance anyway.

Bummed your not running Nashville but that is pretty steep for hotels. I might be headed there solo, turns out it’s busy for the whole family that weekend.

$300/night for hotels in Nashville is crey crey! Vancouver will be such a beautiful spot to run! I’m warming up to the idea of Vegas more and more, but I’m right there with you feeling like the race calendar is a bit of a moving target!

I think 10/4 is my Ragnar weekend. After visiting Vancouver last year, I bet RNR Vancouver will be amazing!

Love that you are doing a small tri in April to ease into the whole tri thing!!

  16. Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says

Yey for RnR Vegas! I’ll be there too!!

  17. Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says

    March 5, 2015 at 9:22 pm

I am currently only registered for one RnR race. So I am trying to figure out if I can make it to 2 more. Hard with only 3 personal days per year. So my schedule may or may not change.

    March 5, 2015 at 9:27 pm

Yay for all your fun race- I did RnR last year and it was a blast. I would love to add some more to my schedule this year but I have so much going on already, it’s jam packed! Next year, hopefully!

  19. Michelle says

    March 5, 2015 at 10:02 pm

Only a couple races for me! Good luck on all of yours!!!

  20. Kate @KateMovingForward says

    March 5, 2015 at 10:30 pm

Looks like you have a lot of fun races lined up!!! I’m looking to do smaller “pure fun” races closer to home or close to friends/family this year.

Good call on the Tri before the Tri! I think it will help your confidence to get in one with a pool swim before the open water. Weather here has also delayed my racing season and like you I’m ok with that. You have some fun looking destination races on your list!

    March 6, 2015 at 11:44 am

I envy your race calendar! I’m not racing that much this year. Trying to race and do everything else too 🙂

  23. Tricia @ MissSippiPiddlin says

    March 6, 2015 at 2:24 pm

I have a few more races on the schedule. Running in my 4th half since January tomorrow. Tuscaloosa Half. Since I live in Mississippi longer distances are about to wind down. I do have one Labor Day weekend though in Tupelo, MS. I do make changes as I go and I would love to do a RnR Vegas. On my bucket list! Not sure it will happen this year but who knows! 🙂

Twin Cities Marathon is a FANTASTIC race. It’s well organized, well supported and gorgeous. I’m excited to hear what you think of it!

KUDOS to you for having everything planned out! My race calendar changes daily, and so far I’m only looking as far as May, haha! It’s been a crazy year over here 😉

booked through sept but eyeing that rnr st louis. who will you go with/stay with?

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
