February Coffee Date

February 5, 2016

It’s been awhile since we caught up over some virtual coffee so I’m linking up with Coco, Lynda and Deb for their Ultimate Coffee Date.

coffee date

If we were having coffee:

I’d use my brand new Starbucks mug from Phoenix. The Caveman just returned from a week-long trip to Arizona and California so this single-parenting stint has come to a welcome end….for now anyway.

I’d tell you I’m so proud of Thing 1. Her first semester of high school and she’s already made her way to the high honor roll. I so admire her drive, not to mention the fact that I never have to nag her about homework.

I’d tell you it may not be over on the skating front for Thing 1 after all. When she told her coaches she was going to have to quit skating for track, they offered her a slot early Sunday mornings at a different (read far away) ice rink. Of course I agreed to take her, but now I realize I gave up prime long run time. Or my strength day with the Caveman. Part of me is highly skeptical her track schedule will even work out. Adding skating to the mix on her only day off is ridiculous.

I’d tell you I’m enjoying the gradually lengthening daylight. The sun doesn’t set here now until after 5. Yay for the groundhog not seeing his shadow. We’re long overdue for an early spring!

Stop by and let’s catch up over coffee! #ultimatecoffeedatelinkup

coffee date rocknroll dublin

I’d tell you my gig as a 2016 rock n blogger nets me a GLOBAL Tour Pass. That means I can run as many RnR races as I want, including international ones. I’d be lying if I told you this one wasn’t calling to me. Loudly. There’s also a chance I’ll be making a repeat run in Vegas, baby!

What would you tell me over coffee? What international race tops your bucket list?

I am loving that little bit of extra daylight too! The sun is almost rising early enough for me to see if as I am finishing up my runs! And its definitely a nice treat to be leaving work when its still light out.

I’m happy to see the daylight on my morning runs again. Dublin would be amazing! I’m still thinking about RnR LV. We’ll see.

I keep being surprised by how much later it stays light these days. I felt like it was going to be dark at 4:30 forever! Dublin would be fun! I spent a semester in Ireland in college and really want to go back one of these days.

    Good job Thing 1! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am also excited about extra daylight!

I am totally loving the later sunsets. The longer days are less depressing ๐Ÿ˜‰ I loved my time in Phoenix a few weeks ago. I’d love to run an international race in Spain!

    February 6, 2016 at 8:27 am

How exciting that you can run all the RnR races you want ! None in France yet… I know there is Dublin and I think Spain or Portugal. Chicago, NY, Amsterdam or London would top my international race destinations !

ooh Dublin yes that would be fun! I really meant to collect those mugs from all the Starbucks and then totally forgot about it now it’s kind of too late. Oh well! Thanks for joining us for coffee today!

It is so nice when the kiddos are low maintenance about school ๐Ÿ™‚ that is great Thing 1 is thriving.
I am excited to see that sunlight stretching out!
That RNR blogger sounds like a fantastic gig, Dublin would be awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll be there in Vegas too! And I am also loving the set setting after 5. That makes me happy.

Big congrats to your daughter!! I just lost my Saturday morning long run time slot to driving my son to lacrosse many towns over – I feel your pain. So many RnR options! My husband’s reaction was that Vegas is a must since we had to miss last year – hopefully I’ll see you there ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dublin would be totally cool — congrats! And at least they speak English. Sort of!

I’ve never really thought of racing internationally, I still have all those states to get through . . .

Well, you’ll be a busy lady with the track/skating stuff going on. Good luck with that.

Dublin would be gorgeous! I’ve never collected the Starbucks mugs because I’ve never had room in my suitcase but I was really tempted by the NYC one this week.

Wait, with the pass do you get a discount or run for free? I didn’t make it in this year but I will re-apply for next year! I so want to be a rock n blogger ๐Ÿ™‚

I too am liking the little bit of light at the end of my day! Great having coffee with you!

Congratulations to your daughter! She’s doing great – keep up the great work!

How exciting that you can do any of the RnR races! That’s beyond cool!

Very cool about the Rock n Roll races! I am not sure which international race would top my list. I think the Norseman triathlon would be beyond cool, although that is even harder to get into than Escape from Alcatraz. Over 3000 applicants for 200-some spots (about half are reserved for Norwegians). I am loving the longer days, too! Can’t wait till we spring forward and I can actually start riding and running outdoors after work again!!

I feel your pain on Thing 1’s ice skating decision. Of course you want her to continue and of course you’ll support her but it gets a bit wearing when you’re constantly having to give up your own stuff. Just a few more years and she’ll be driving herself around.

Love the Starbucks mugs from different places…also so happy to have the sunshine longer each day…Dublin sounds awesome

I didn’t apply for the R’nR thing. Wish I would have, but most all of those events require air travel for me ($$$) and we have two kids in college at the moment (and I have a most severe case of #momguilt leaving the homestead). That said….a girls’ weekend with a bunch of the awesome chicks who DID get in would be so much fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am very tempted to consider Dublin….I’ve never been and could use a summer vacation! I’m enjoying the increased daylight too, it makes coming home from work a little less miserable!

I am getting so jealous of all of you RnR bloggers-lol. Congrats!!

The things we do for our kids! I hope it all works out for you all and that you are able to figure out how to get your runs in.

    High school honor roll–awesome!!

I’d really like to run RnR. The closest would be New Orleans (no can do) and Savannah (maybe). It’s wonderful when a child is motivated and does their homework! I’m glad Thing 1 can still ice skate, although it’s putting a crunch in your schedule.

Congrats on being an R and R blogger- I need to get in on that one next year! Today we were outside with neighbors chatting it up around 5ish and it was still light out– SOO exciting!!!! Bring on Spring… even though we barely had winter.
