Tri Week Shenanigans

June 13, 2016

It was a perfect week workout-wise….if you don’t notice the elephant in the room. Yeah I didn’t swim. Not a single time. Being tri week and all, a swim or two would’ve been good. Yeah not so much.

Monday: Open water swim (didn’t happen)
Tuesday: Run 5 miles
Wednesday: Evolution Cycle + Strength
Thursday: Run 3 miles track repeats
Friday: Swim 800 yds. (didn’t happen)
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Espirit de She Triathlon (race report to come)

driving

We’re fully in summer mode here. Drivers Ed has started. Thing 1 is back to figure skating. Thing 2 is in gymnastics mode and loving it. Otherwise we’re at the pool.

sunrisestretchng1

I got myself up and out running by 5:30 during the week. Go me.

Remember that open water swim that was supposed to happen on Monday at 6am? Yeah um well it didn’t. I never heard another word about it from my tri coach….and I didn’t bother to pursue it. My bad. Friday’s swim didn’t happen either. Despite being at the pool for 2 hours, no lanes ever had less than 2 people in them. So no swims during tri week. Cue ominous foreboding.

We got some serious heat this week.

tri markings

Saturday was busy and steamy with Espirit de She Tri packet pickup on the way to a surprise party at BIL’s new cabin in Indiana. Tri body markings at a party are quite the conversation starter. While non-runners call every race a “marathon” every tri is called an “Ironman”. As if.ย ย If you read the MHS Facebook page you already know how the tri panned out, but a race report is forthcoming, eventually.

This week, with the tri in the rearview mirror, I’m shifting gears and working toward RocknRoll Chicago and RocknRoll Dublin. I’ll eventually build toward training for my fall marathon, Indy Monumental.

How was your week? Did you race? Was it hot?

weekly Wrapup

I’m linking up with Tricia and Holly for the Weekly Wrap.

I love that picture of you in the sundress all tatted up for your tri! LOL! Aren’t you glad that’s behind you?

I’m still on the fence about RnR Chi. My foot really was upset this weekend. I’m going to head back to the pool tomorrow–can you believe it–and give it a little break. Somethings got to give and it’s not going to be any bones.

This weekend was so hot for running! I got out early on Saturday and it was still cool but increasingly humid! Sorry the tri didn’t go as planned, I’ll be looking for your recap! Oh and that dress looks great on you!

I feel your pain, my mind checked out of triathlon about a month ago so I did two sprints on no swim training (which is hard). Look forward to seeing the detailed recap and hearing about the marathon training plans.

It was pretty miserable here for running, and my run yesterday was awful. The worst part is when the air feels heavy and I struggle to breathe. Can’t wait to read about your tri!

Can’t wait to read your race recap ! Hope the weather was a bit cooler than 100 degrees. Holy crap !

You should use that picture of you in the purple dress with the tri markings as a profile picture! You look BADASS. Congrats on finishing your tri and way to push through when the going got tough. I am looking forward to hearing the full recap. LOL at how everyone calls triathlons “Ironmans” and running “marathons.” So true!

It was actually pretty nice here in the DC are during the week and then the weekend got hot and humid! It is back to pretty nice temps this week with limited humidity.

That’s so cool that you are running RnR Dublin! I have never been there. I will be at RnR Chicago though. We’re in for the 5k and the Half. Maybe I’ll see you there! I love the picture of you at the party with your race number on your arm. Such an athlete! Have a great week Marcia!

    Marcia!! You are ripped!!!

We are on vaycay now so I haven’t lifted in almost a week. I told Paul my arms feel small and like the good husband he is, he says, “No your legs just got bigger from hiking so your arms LOOK smaller.” He’s a keeper!

How are you running in summer in a long sleeved shirt? It’s winter here and I still haven’t gotten past short sleeves.

I never got my head in the game for my 10K this weekend – the humidity sucked it out of me!

You look pretty in purple ๐Ÿ™‚ Congrats on the the Tri.
I always chuckle when I hear folks ask if you ran a marathon when you are doing a 5K lol
You catch the best sunrises! I seldom get to enjoy those pretty colors.
It is always scary when your kids start driving…

I need details! I just think the body marking is so cool. Rad. (Is that still a word?) Especially with a pretty sundress and shiny sandals!! Ha — let people think it’s an Ironman. If you correct them, they’ll forget anyway. Just nod. Thanks for linking with us Marcia!

You look strong in your sundress and body markings! I look forward to your recap! So cool you’re running RnR Dublin!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
