My Fall Race Calendar

August 29, 2016

Let’s distract ourselves from the fact that we’re marinating in stifling humidity by talking about fall. Specifically fall races. You know, the ones where there’s a chill in the air and the foliage is vibrant. This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is exactly that: We wanna know what you’ve got up your sleeve this fall running-wise.

Fall Race Calendar

Me? I’ve got a few things:

October 15-16: Tentative (no hotel booked…yet) RnRStL Remix 5k, Half). Missouri will be a new state for me. Not that I’m tracking or anything.

MIDWEST-GIF (1)

Because I completed RnRChi back in July, I’ll also be eligible for the Midwest Quest bonus bling. Pretty cool, yes?

November 5: Indy Monumental Marathon….or half. Jury’s still out on the exact distance but this will be a fun girls’ weekend nevertheless.

indy mini

I haven’t raced here since the Indy Mini back in the dark ages when I still traveled with an umbrella stroller.

November 24: Localย Turkey Trot TBD

December 3: Panama City Beach Half Marathon. Another destination race in a warm place. With friends. Life is good!

I may sprinkle in some shorter local races too, we’ll see.

Will I see you at any of these races this fall? #running #RnRSTL #rocknblog #runchat #bemonumental

How about you? What races are you looking forward to? Have you run any of the ones I mentioned?

I would be all about that Panama City race in December!

  2. Karen @ Fit in France says

    August 29, 2016 at 11:41 pm

Only 2 races on my schedule, but that is enough for me. Marathon training is taking priority over racing.

They all look like great races, a nice mix of distance and running with friends!

I only have two races planned so far. A half marathon at the end of September and possibly a 10 mile race in October, I think that’s probably it. Since my injury I’ve been taking it easy but hope to get back to full racing fitness next year.

I have four races and that’s plenty for me this year. I’m looking forward to NYC Marathon.

The Midwest Quest medal is very cool ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m doing more triathlons this fall than running races and I’m looking forward to a racecation in Key West in December!

You’ve got a nice full race schedule! I’ve got my 2 halfs, and hopefully a 5k a week from Saturday, but other than that unkown. Oh, and a 5k in NYC in November.

I tend to race more when it’s cooler, and there are races I might do, but at the moment life is just day by day.

Come join me at the Mag Mile Half–I”m going to be giving away 2 entries! That would be awesome! Also, I like the bonus RNR medal–pretty sweet, man.

    August 30, 2016 at 5:10 am

    Wow Panama City sounds awesome!

Only the Philadelphia Marathon on my race schedule this year. I might run a local 5K next weekend with some friends but all my focus is on my first marathon!

Sounds like you have some awesome races coming up!

My biggest race this Fall is the NYC Marathon, but I have a few half marathons in Spetember and October that I am using as part of my long training runs – I figured I might as well get a medal for all my running, right? LOL

You will see me in December- I can’t wait!!!!!!

September and October are just booked for me. I wish I could do a Thelma and Louise thing with you for STL but I have to work that Saturday. This is the time of year when my schedule really gets to me. Grrrrr….

I’m considering Naperville for my fall half…. and we’ve got PCB.

I don’t have any organized races on my calendar. I was thinking about a turkey trot, but Thanksgiving starts early, so I did a 5k the weekend before last year. I still felt accomplished, even though I didn’t do any cardio on turkey day.

  13. Rachel says

Looks like a fabulous racing schedule! I still get FOMO every time someone mentions Indy… hahaha.

  14. Ana says

Those medals !! RnR totally sucked me in doing two more half marathons with their Eastern Odyssey Medal!

I am definitely looking forward to some Turkey Trot of some sort!

  15. Michelle says

    August 30, 2016 at 8:46 am

How fun!! I can’t wait for the time when my schedules slows down so I can plan some races. No races for me as of yet but hope to get back at it next year.

That medal looks awesome! They had an Eastern Odyssey medal for doing DC, VA Beach, and Philly, but I’m not going to VA Beach, unfortunately.

Your Indy full or half does sound like great fun for a girls trip but I must say I’m tickled to death to see PCB half on your radar! We’re going to have a ball!!!
Thanks for the link up, Marcia!

    August 30, 2016 at 11:43 am

I love that RnR Midwestern Remix challenge medal! The timing doesn’t work for me to run RnR St. Louis otherwise I’d totally join you that weekend. I’ve heard such great things about Indy Monumental – you are going to have a blast, no matter what! Panama City in early December sounds AMAZING…

  23. Kate says

    August 30, 2016 at 1:10 pm

Running is way in the backseat of my race life right now, though I’m at least trying to get in 2-3 short runs a week so my running fitness doesn’t completely disappear. Cool that you might hit St. Louis!

  24. Ilka says

    August 30, 2016 at 1:35 pm

Quite a busy race schedule for Fall Marcia – that’s beautiful thing! Cute pic of you and your kids! ๐Ÿ™‚
    Have a great training week!

  25. Kelli says

    August 30, 2016 at 1:58 pm

That sounds like a nice schedule! Some fun destination events but not too much! I haven’t decided how much I want to race this fall. I needed a mental reset after road season – TBD if I do a few cross races for fun or really get into the scene.

  26. Michelle @ Running with Attitude says

    August 30, 2016 at 3:07 pm

Nice schedule! But I’m bummed to not see Vegas on your list! I was hoping I’d finally get to meet you in person ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. laura says

    August 30, 2016 at 6:52 pm

No fall races for me (my due date is the same week as your race in Indy) but am already looking forward to spring! While I will never wish away summer, I could certainly do without the 95% humidity every day!

  28. Lindsay Loves Running says

    August 30, 2016 at 7:04 pm

Your pictures are so Iovely! I haven’t run any of the races you have planned, but I have run in areas close to them for other races. I have to say that race in Panama City Beach does sound pretty enticing …. well planned! Can’t wait to hear what you decide about the Marathon v. Half Marathon.

  29. LaChicaRuns says

    August 30, 2016 at 7:08 pm

I only have four races, but they include my first ultra and I’m pumped! I’m relatively new to trail racing, so it’s bound to be quite an experience. Plus, my runner friends and I are making it into a girls’ weekend, so that should be fun.

    Happy running!

  30. Tara @ Run and Live Happy says

Panama City sounds amazing in December! You have some fun destination races planned! Good luck!

Looks like you have some fun half marathons coming up. The St. Louis and Indianapolis ones tempt me, but it’s soccer season, sigh…

I’ll be doing a Turkey Trot too, but it will involve walking with kids.

  34. Thelma says

    August 31, 2016 at 11:23 pm

Why is Thelma going to Indianapolis and not Panama City Beach?????? She is crying right now…..

You have a running filled fall planned. Love it and a little bit jealous. This is the first year in as long as I can remember that I didn’t have a race calendar and this fall is no different. Blame it on yoga teacher training and not having time to train for a race.

  36. Abby @BackatSquareZero says

    September 1, 2016 at 7:53 pm

    I have NYC Nov 6
    Kiawah Half Dec 10
    Charleston Half Jan 14
However, one of those halves might get upgraded to a full if I get my medical stuff under control and get healthy.

Looks like you have a good calendar going.

  37. Zenaida Arroyo says

    September 3, 2016 at 5:46 pm

I have not planned anything past Chicago Marathon. I have MCM in my calendar but I think I will opt out. I would like to run the Hot Chocolate in late October and possibly a Pie Race (3.14) on Thanksgiving.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
