Race Week and a Giveaway

July 15, 2018

Just like that, it’s RnRCHI race week and I can’t wait to see everybody! Let’s hope Mother Nature goes easy on us, since she’s been more than generous with heat/humidity lately. It was a busy, distracted week with running very much on the back burner. You may notice below that, at the time I wrote this, a weekend run had not yet happened…nor did CrossFit… I’ve been consumed with a certain soon-to-be 13 yr. old’s birthday party, among other things.

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Track 5×800
Wednesday: YouTube HIIT + Swim
Thursday: Run 6 miles, lunch with Wendy
Friday: Bike 15 miles + YouTube Tabata
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: ???

As much as I struggle with running, sometimes I don’t. Tuesday’s 800m repeats in the heat were surprisingly strong. I never quite know what my body will deliver on any given day anymore.

Thursday’s 6 miler got harder as the heat built up. But I made it out before the sun, so I’m going to own that victory.

Highlights

Saturday started very early as I had to get the teenager into the city, in the rain, by 7:30am to take the ACT. Since the school that administered it is much closer to my mom’s house, I spent the morning catching up with her, which was nice.

Summer is very much birthday season here since everyone in the family has a summer birthday except yours truly. This weekend was all about celebrating Thing 2 as she’ll be turning 13 sooner than I care to admit. Pizza followed by a trip to the Sugar Factory and a sleepover with 10 of her besties were on tap this weekend. Yes, mama needs a weekend to recover from the weekend.

While they’ve been renting an apt. in the Chicago area since last fall, the in-laws officially moved into the house they’ve been building. Their furniture shipped from North Carolina and the Caveman has been immersed in the move. Now I’ve got my MIL 20 minutes away…don’t be jelly…

What an exciting but busy weekend for you – happy birthday to your daughter! It sounds like you planed a perfect birthday weekend for her.

That meme of the dog literally made me LOL!

Can’t wait to see you on Saturday!

Aren’t you glad the birthday extravaganza is over? How was the Sugar Factory? I almost typed Sugar Shack. We don’t need your girls to know anything about that…. maybe we could plan a side trip there on Zooma weekend? LOL

Seems like you had a busy weekend! Don’t you think there should be another day between Sunday and Monday?. We can call it Momday haha. Just a day to relax. No chores allowed.

Ten kids at a sleepover? You are my hero. Once, I lost a kid at a birthday party here at the house. It was very embarrassing (found him sitting on the curb). I clearly can’t be trusted to watch over many children. I can’t wait to catch up with you this weekend! Thanks for linking.

Summer runs were always hit or miss for me too. I won’t be able to attend ZOOMA, but I tweeted your giveaway!

Sounds like an awesome week and weekend! Sad I’m not meeting up with all you awesome bloggers next weekend, it sounds like it will be so much fun!

The best quote I saw about the weather lately was, “Mother Nature, stop showing off. We get it, you’re hot.” Ha!

Those surprisingly strong runs make the hard ones worthwhile. And the endorphins seem that much stronger. Congrats on surviving the bday celebration. Sorry to hear about the ILs ….

Almost a teenager! I’m not sure I want to admit it but my twin grandsons just turned 13 a few months ago.

So nice when you have a strong workout. The hot weather is so enervating and makes even the idea of running feel like a challenge. Nice job!

I don’t have a summer birthday either. I always thought I was missing out when I was in school for some fun pool parties. My sister is lucky enough to have a summer birthday. I wish that Zooma race was another weekend.Of course that is my Dad’s birthday

I so wish I could do one of the ZOOMA races! One of these days I will get to one on the east coast.
Happy to hear you surprised yourself with 800s in the heat. You just never know what may happen on the track!!
And 13? OMG. I’m having enough trouble with 9. Lawd help me!

I didn’t do any workouts this weekend, and it was a fun and busy one too. I don’t need a weekend to recover, but it would be nice to have 3-day weekends all the time. Then I work at home Tuesdays, so that could be on 3 days in the office…

Thank goodness I only see my mil a couple of times a year! She’s not so bad, but she still can annoy the heck out of me.

You guys will have a blast this weekend, I’m sure! It’s race week for me too. 🙂

You are a brave woman hosting 10 teenagers! My youngest turns 13 in a couple of weeks – can’t believe it!

My younger son turns 13 this year too. Gah!
