Another Week Closer to Spring

February 19, 2022

It was another week of playing cat and mouse with Mother Nature. It was warm, it was cold, windy, rainy, snowy, icy, you name it we had it this week. Here’s how my workouts went:

Monday: Walk 3 miles, otherwise rest
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 5 miles, Core
Wednesday: Walk 3 miles, Strength & Balance, Restorative Yoga
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Bootcamp, Restorative Yoga
Friday: Walk, Yoga, 10 min strength, tired
Saturday: Brief Walk because so cold, TM Bootcamp + 30 min run, Restorative Yoga
Sunday: Walk, Heavy Strength

Tested out the Vintage Chic Tough Chick Top and Triple Pocket Tights from Skirt Sports. Super soft and toasty warm for the win! Get yours and save with code SHAREIT15.

I found myself testing the trails yet again, only to find them way too icy still. When will I learn? The answer is never. As the week went on we did melt the snow…but then we got more, followed by a return to polar temps. C’est la vie.

I started Ross Rayburn’s Restorative Yoga Series on Peloton. It goes a bit (ok a lot) slow, but this girl needs it. Plus I adore Ross both for Yoga and Meditation.

I celebrated a milestone on YouTube this week with video #100. When I started this channel it was my goal to create a community for  women who aren’t 20 or 30 anymore, but still want to stay fit and active as we make our way through the next chapters of life. I don’t think women of a certain age are represented proportionately in the fitness community and that needs to change.

Strength & Balance Workout. Grab some moderate hand weights, a resistance band and join me for this workout sequence designed to build strength throughout the body as well as train your balance.

I’ll leave you with this sunrise shot. Love how the geese lined up along the water hole. One more month until spring!

How was your week? Any weather whiplash? Yearning for spring?

I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

Weather whiplash for sure. 80 degrees on Tuesday. 10 degrees on Wed. But I went from Fla to ny.

But even here so so windy. Ugh.

I’m so ready for spring and for the ugly ice to melt.

I’m always mentally prepared for the wild weather swings of February, but this month has been crazier than I remember! Isn’t March supposed to be the windy month? I’m planning on heading out for a run this morning and I’m strategizing the best way to avoid wind and ice. Good luck, right?

Congrats on 100 videos. I always turn to your videos when I need some home strength. I know I can rely on you for excellent guidance!

I tried Ross’ program too and couldn’t do it. He was way too technical and boring for me. I aspire to have more of this type of yoga in my life but 30 min classes are too long for me. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts as you get more into it. Our weather was nuts as well! Congrats on your Youtube accomplishment! That is really fantastic. I agree, we need more instructors of our age out there! I used to love teaching back in the day but that feels like forever ago!

Beautiful sunrise! Yes, the weather was fierce this week. But it’s February, and it’s actually been a mild February (snow wise, anyway). But paths remain icy forever, it seems.

Restorative Yoga is supposed to be slow. 😉 Actually, it’s supposed to be a lot of props and no moving for minutes at a time!

That sunrise shot is gorgeous! I’ve been enjoying the sunrise from the cozy warmth of my bed lately! The way my house is situated in our neighborhood, I have to go a mile before I can catch a sunrise view outside.

Congrats on your 100th video! I know that’s a ton of work, and you’re right about the need for fitness programs for the over 30 somethings! .

I did a couple of Denis Morton’s restorative yoga classes a while ago, but i like his regular classes better. But I’m curious to know why this is called “power” restorative yoga. If you feel like doing a review of the whole series, I would be happy to read it.
I SO agree with you that we need some older fitness instructors. Let’s start with Peloton, ahem. It’s not like I want “silver sneakers” type classes, I just want classes for mature adults. I’m going to check out your channel this week!

That sunrise pic is total perfection and tranquility 😉 It’s no secret I’m done with winter (even with that Florida sabbatical, LOL). I want warmth and all the daylight, thank you very much. Those sunrises are starting to creep back into my mornings, and I’m ever so thankful!! I saw that yoga series, but it didn’t grab me. I definitely need more yoga, but (like Deborah), I don’t care for such long classes (I know, #mybad).

I think I need some restorative yoga in my life – it sounds so calming and healing.
You didn’t include any sauna sessions in your summary this week, but I hope you had the time for them!

I love that last photo – you live in such a beautiful area, Marcia!

    I love that sunrise shot!

The weather whiplash has been relentless with more to come this week.

I had my eye on Ross’ program and will be interested in hearing what you think.

Congrats on #100! One of my criticisms of Peloton is the age group of the instructors.

    Congrats on #100.
Here the expected bad weather has not arrived and it seems to be already in spring with mimosas and almond trees in full bloom. This morning I succeeded in running by the Bolsena lake with no wind and under a warm sun.
    That sunrise shot is wonderful!

I commend you for doing the restorative yoga! I’m sure my body would benefit from it, I am so tight…I would try to strap into my snowboard while standing (rather than sitting down as a lot of snowboarders do) and sometimes I couldn’t reach my bindings I was tight, yikes! That’s on me….time for yoga!

Congrats on 100 classes! So cool that you are making a change in the fitness industry with representation. What an inspiration you are!

Woohoo on 100 videos. Can Chicago and NYC twin in something other than weather?
So you wear the tough chic as a jacket? I contemplated because purple, but am not yet sure it would work for me. Maybe for next winter since I am determined that it will soon be “too warm” for layers

Seems like we both had similar weather this week – total weather whiplash!

I adore Ross for sleep meditations but haven’t checked out the new yoga program yet.

Congratulations on Video #100! That’s huge!

Spring isn’t much of a thing here. We swing pretty dramatically to summer.

Stay safe with all that ice!

100th YouTube video – that shows such consistency and dedication and I’m so glad that you recognised a gap in the market and did something about it!!

    That last photo is STUNNING!
