First Runfessions of Fall

September 29, 2022

Well my friends, if you blinked, you probably missed summer. It seems to slip away faster and faster every year doesn’t it? Fall or not, the last Friday of the month always means the Runfession Friday linkup is OPEN. So let’s get to it!

Now that it’s fall and all, I’ve been doing my share of closet organizing and purging. When Thing 1 was home for a few days before she left for school, she did the same, leaving behind several bags of stuff to be donated. I runfess that I may have picked through said bags and “retrieved” a couple of things for myself. I am hopeless.

I may not splurge on coffee but this Cider/Cinnamon conditioner jumped into my shopping cart

While I’m not the biggest pumpkin spice fan that ever lived, I runfess that I am intrigued by Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. I most likely won’t try one though because 31g of sugar is a total deal breaker. Even if I asked for half the sweetener, it’s still waaaay too much sugar in one coffee.

Now that it’s cooler out, running feels Soooo much better! I runfess though that I’m still putting ice in my handheld water bottle before I head out. Old habits die hard I guess.

The homestretch toward my 6th star!

I runfess I had no idea until a couple of days ago that the London Marathon was this weekend. During Queen Elizabeth’s funeral events I couldn’t help but think what would happen if the marathon were happening at the same time. They’d probably reroute the course and the finish wouldn’t be on the Royal Mall. Is London permanently a fall marathon now? Color me clueless!

You know it’s bad when dogs send DMs

And finally, I know I’ve complained about this before, but the spam accounts on Instagram, coupled with the super-low engagement lately have me this close to shutting it down. I runfess I’m beyond sick of the daily DMs from forex traders, sugar daddies and foot fetish people. Now even dogs and horses are DMing me.

Ok your turn: What have you to runfess? Are you a pumpkin spice fan? What’s the most you’ll spend on a cup of coffee?

I’m also linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

It cooled off way too fast! A happy medium would have been nice. But I don’t mind running in these temperatures!

Not a pumpkin spice fan. I like my coffee with just a splash of half and half. Boring, I know.

I had a new follower among all the military men this week–a guy named Greg Hathcox. No photo tho, which I really would have liked to see! :p

I don’t have a problem paying $5 for my Starbucks chai lattes because I don’t have them very often (no Starbucks in my itty bitty Iowa town). It’s been practically freezing in Iowa (34F feels-like Wednesday morning). Nope, not a fan. I want my summer back, or at least a “real” fall experience, LOL.

Yikes that’s a lot of sugar for one coffee! I usually go the muffin route to get my pumpkin indulgence.

The IG spam accounts have definitely become more plentiful – of late I’ve gotten a rush of cypto currency “brokers” – why?!?

My hair guy was just telling me he was drinking the cold brew w the pumpkin cream bc it has less sugar. Hmmm not so much dude! That’s more than a whole day’s worth!
I am at my wit’s end w IG this past month. I have been working hard and nada.I have not gotten any good offers lately in my DM 🙂 LOL

As you know I make my own hot beverages, but that much sugar would be a deal breaker for me too. My husband bought me a brownie on his birthday — when I told him to get something for HIM — I didn’t actually want it. I ate half. The other half is still there — although I do have plans for ice cream after my long run today. Brrrr!

    I have purged, but I have also bought. I guess it’s a good thing I don’t have a daughter. 🙂

    That conditioner must smell great.

I do like pumpkin spice everything especially coffee. I runfess I don’t look at the sugar content of my foods. And I’m not tempted by Starbucks since I work from home.

I try not to snack and eat healthy meals.

Yes. I get a lot weird followers on IG.

I’ve been taking tread classes with some of the Peloton UK instructors, and they have been mentioning the upcoming marathon. I think if it coincided with the ceremonies for Queen Elizabeth it would have been canceled or postponed.

I am just a consumer on IG and it’s frustrating for me as well. Every other post is something “suggested” or “promotoed” and not from people I follow.

I have rescued some very nice things from my kids’s “donate” bags.

Although I’m always ranting and raving about pumpkin, I don’t actually get any of the pumpkin drinks from Starbucks. None of them are vegan and they have waaaaaay too much sugar. They look good though!
i love Native products- I use their deodorant. And I like how they have seasonal scents- I’m going to look for that conditioner.

I wondered the same about the London Marathon. With only a week between Berlin and London, it’s difficult for someone who wants to do both. April was so much more convenient!
I think Coco’s right, the marathon would have been postponed or cancelled. Imagine how inconvenient for all those runners from overseas!

I runfess I’m very glad it’s more “fall” for you guys in Chicagoland because this summer’s humidity absolutely killed me. all I want is a day like it was in 2019 where it was chilly for the spectators but sunny and a perfect temp for the runners…

I’m not a pumpkin spice person at all. In fact I generally don’t do any of those drinks. You can probably imagine after 7 years of working at Starbucks and actually having to constantly try the drinks (yep even int he support center and not even in store) I’m over all of them. double espresso, black, no nothing or if I’m feeling fancy a flat white. I do like a cold brew latte more than the iced latte for some reason. I spend about EUR 4 to EUR 12 a week on coffee out.

IG is annoying but I can’t seem to break up with them. But I also do social media for our parkrun and for an international ladies group here in Arnhem so I kind of have to stick around. I also recently got a “hey how you doing?” DM from a cat 😀

Not a pumpkin person (at all, not just flavoring), but I absolutely overpaid for some peppermint mochas in Alaska. They’re usually too high sugar for me since they rarely have low sugar non dairy milks, but sometimes it’s just a nice treat. I rarely eat a dessert so sometimes drink it for breakfast/snack.
    I love fall running

I’m so happy that fall is here though I am surprised how it flipped the switch so quickly!

I’m barely on IG these days, it just sometimes seems like too much of a hassle!

    Thanks for hosting!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
