October Coffee

October 6, 2022

Can you believe it’s time for October Coffee already? I’m sitting down for a little catch up sesh with Deborah, Coco and you. I’m enjoying some Starbucks Verona Dark Roast, with a splash of Half & Half and a scoop of collagen. What’ll you have?

I brought out my Chicago mug in honor of this weekend’s Chicago Marathon. The weather looks like it’s shaping up to be pretty perfect, with a low of 39 and a high of 65, with partly sunny skies. Good luck to everyone running this year. I’ll be doing some leaf peeping in Wisconsin this weekend but I’ll be cheering you on in spirit!

Over coffee I’d ask if you were impacted by Hurricane Ian. We had mysteriously gorgeous weather up here but I have many friends in Florida I was concerned about. One friend bought a waterfront home in Ft Meyers little over one year ago. Sadly the storm surge covered her home completely and it’s basically gone. So sad.

Our deck in it’s mid-summer splendor.

Over coffee I’d ask you if you’re embracing fall. I am really enjoying the sudden-onset cooler temps, but I am not looking forward to getting our deck ready for winter. Emptying all the flower pots and hauling everything in is a big job and I typically wait until it’s cold and miserable, so this year I have a new plan. I’m bringing in a pot or two most days, so the deck will be cleared gradually. It’s working out fine so far.

Speaking of fall, I confess I’m a bit addicted to the “Fall Clean and Decorate” videos on YouTube. I’m not sure why I’m drawn to them, but they are my guilty pleasure. I love seeing people make their homes cozy and festive.

Over coffee I’d tell you we just passed the one year anniversary of our kitchen renovation. It was a long 7 weeks of construction but the inconvenience was worth it! Now that we’ve been using the new kitchen for awhile is there anything I wish I’d done or that I’d do differently? The answer is no! I love it just as much as I did on day one!

I’ll leave you with this pic. The colors are just getting started here but fall is most definitely in the air.

What would you tell me over coffee? Any guilty pleasures? Any renovations coming up? Have you run a race in Chicago?

I’m also linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday.

It does feel like the colors are changing quickly, doesn’t it? I’m heading up to Wisco as well, to watch M play rugby as well as to get some more IAT miles. Where are you going?

    Your kitchen is pretty perfect!

I’ve had my new kitchen for a year too. Still love it.

    Have fun in Wisconsin.

The colors are slow in arriving here.

And I’m drinking verona dark roast too

WE are still a few weeks out from real color changes but we are starting to see a few beginnngs. I love it! It is my favorite time of the year. I love the cool crisp mornings and sunny afternoons. we are hosting Thanksfiving so I need to get on the fall decor thing. Thanks for the reminder about cleaning off the deck 🙂

Your kitchen is gorgeous! I love that sink. Even from my perspective it seems like it was longer than 7 weeks! I still love our “new” kitchen too.

I am so glad the weather is looking good for the marathon! It’s going to be cool here too.

That’s great that you are still loving your kitchen — it is beautiful!

This will be my weekend for attacking the deck and bringing out the fall decor – ironically it’s supposed to shoot up into the mid 70’s today. But fall temps will return over the weekend and I am fully embracing it!

    Have fun leaf peeping!

There are “fall clean and decorate” videos on Youtube? I must check those out!
I’m glad you’re loving your kitchen- all the inconveniences of the renovation were worth it.
i know it’s getting chilly in your area this weekend! I think I heard something about “frost”??? I’m excited to watch the marathon on TV- glad the runners are going to have good weather!

Just this week, I noticed sone of the cooors changing. Just some, though. There are many trees (most, actually) still looking pretty green. We have a frost advisory tonight, so I’ll be hauling all the front porch pots indoors after works

Oh your poor friends! I’m so sorry.

Obviously our trees have been changing a while already, but we’re still a ways away from peak.

Today started out warmer than normal (just in time for my long run, naturally) and then the temps fell throughout the day. I consoled myself with it’s good training in case my race is warm.

Your kitchen is beautiful! I just picked out new flooring for our kitchen so I’m looking forward to when they can install it! Which decorating channels do you watch? I’ve been watching the meal prep videos. I don’t do them but I enjoy watching others do it..lol

    Happy Fall!

My guilty pleasure is TikTok… not as an active member, just as a passive video consumer. Some of them are hilarious!
I only know Wisconsin from Wendy’s posts, it must be a beautiful place. Enjoy the weekend!

I love the way your kitchen looks! :] I like watching tidy-up/clean videos too–there’s something so satisfying about them.

Your deck looks gorgeous! When we bought our house, it came with 2 plants that were in giant pots and I’ve tried very unsuccessfully to revive them, so I’ll have to look into extricating em’ at some point and replacing them with something else soon!

Your kitchen is beautiful! I remember the adventures you had while it was being renovated. Now it looks straight from a magazine. I am also loving the colors. Fall is my favorite too.

Sorry to hear about your friend’s place in Fort Myers. Hope they’re physically safe.
On a Dunkin kick again here/ 7-11 is cheaper, but just not as good.

I’m so glad you love your kitchen. It’s gorgeous.

I kind of want to decorate, but I also want to start major travel again. What to do, what to do?
