Holiday Prep and a Blanket of Snow

November 20, 2022

This post contains affiilate links.

It was a busy week up in here. Work was nuts, home was nuts and I barely ran at all, nor did I do any Thanksgiving prep. Whoops! Here’s how the workouts went:

Monday: Walk 4 miles, Early work, that is all
Tuesday: Walk only 2 miles, cuz woke to wet snow! Trail run 3 miles
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Strength + Core
Thursday: Walk 2 miles, 30 min bike (LOL Cody), standing abs + 20 min Matty Stretch
Friday: Walk 1 mile (frigid again) Bike Tabata + Strength
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest, if you can call it that
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, TBD

I woke Tuesday morning and noticed “whiteness” in the darkness when I glanced outside. Upon further investigation I discovered that yes, Old Man Winter came to town, complete with the season’s first blanket of snow. As much as I wanted to wrap up with a cup of steaming coffee and veg out, I got moving and ventured out to some very wet trails. Thanks to the protection of the trees, the trails weren’t terribly snow-covered but I was surprised on numerous occasions by areas of deep slush that left my feet soaking wet. Yuck.

We endured three days of ongoing flurries and snow squalls before the artic chill set in. Tis the season.

In other news. the Caveman and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary with a quick trip to our favorite sushi restaurant. Sushi is always a good idea. Apparently picture taking is not since I did not take a single one.

I coach many of the ZOOMA/Skirt Sports group fitness challenges and this week two of them overlapped (last week for Find Your Zen Yoga and first week for Holiday) so it was a lot, in the best way of course, but still.

I also attended the first of many work-related holiday gatherings. It started at 8pm, on a weeknight no less. A time when I’m typically fading on the couch, The struggle was real, but it was still fun! Haha!

This Week

Our college daughter arrives later today and I could not be more excited! Hopefully she’ll help me with Thanksgiving prep because clearly I need it!

I’ve been using my Lumen for a year now (read my review here) and it’s helped me lose 7 pounds, which is no small task when you’re my age. If you’re interested in trying it, they have a great sale going on now (50% off!) plus use MARCIA10 to save an additional 10%.

We’re going to my sister’s for TG, so no holiday chaos yet. I’ve got a couple days off next week and I’m looking forward to not going to work, lol. Enjoy having everyone home!

I feel you on those 8 pm social events. The hardest part is getting myself out the door and the struggle is real!

We are having a very small TG so I just have to do a bit of extra shopping and make sure I have good apples for my pain-in-the-ass pie.

    Happy Anniversary!!

    Happy Anniversary!

I’ve done absolutely no prep for Thanksgiving – thankfully my brother is hosting but I’m still on the hook for the stuffing and dessert. Enjoy having your daughter home – I can’t wait to see my college boy πŸ™‚

Luckily I don’t have to deal with Thanksgiving prep other than the drive & trying to cajole my husband into a hike on the way. It’s probably going to be a hard sell. And maybe straightening out my mom’s cell phone, which she never uses anyway.

    Enjoy having the family together!

WHAT? It’s time for Runfessions again? Sheesh…. time really flies. This is my favorite time of year, so why does it have to go twice as fast as normal time?
So glad you have your college girl home! My son is home too, and he’s definitely helping with Thanksgiving prep. I think you did great, workout-wise this week. You made up for the non-runs with the bike. And, Happy Anniversary! Love the photo.

I did the LOL Cody ride last week as well, he’s SUCH a hoot! I did his NSYNC ride this morning…another fun endeavor with a lot of laughs. We got all of our snow Monday afternoon and overnight, so it was waiting for us Tuesday morning. Thanksgiving really crept up on us, didn’t it? We have all the plans in place for our local Trot, not I have to get to work in the kitchen…

That’s a lovely wedding photo of you both!
Having to leave a cosy home to get to an 8 pm event sounds like a nightmare to me. The absolute worst.
I’m sure you will have a fabulous Thanksgiving day despite the lack of preparation. Sometimes these turn out to be the best events.
Enjoy your time with your college daughter!

I’ve purchased most of the Thanksgiving food with the exception of produce for a salad (I’m not a big fan of Thanksgiving type foods so I make a huge salad as well). Our son, daughter-in-law, and Pablo will be arriving from Florida next Sunday and staying for three weeks since they both work remotely and I can’t wait!

Happy belated anniversary! Enjoy your time with your college girl while she’s home!

Happy Anniversary! I love the wedding photo that you posted πŸ™‚

We have yet to get any snow here yet, but I’m okay with that. Although I don’t mind the cold weather, I really don’t like snow – especially driving in it – so I’m okay with it taking a bit longer to hit CT.

Happy anniversary, 24 years is amazing πŸ™‚ I love to hear about long lasting marriages.

Definitely need to scope out some Black Friday sales- surprisingly a lot of UK stores are having them!
