Back to the Grind

January 15, 2023

This post contains an affiliate link.

We are back to the grind here after the holiday hiatus, finally. Here’s how the week in workouts went:

Monday: Walk 4 miles, Upper Body, Core, Sauna
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Trial Run 3 miles
Wednesday: Walk 2 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Bike 20 min, Strength + Core
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Tread bootcamp, Sauna
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength

We were blessed with two whole sunny days with temps hitting 50, which felt so great after being so grey here for so long. 50 here in the Chicago area in January is pretty rare so I will take it! Of course after that we returned to our regularly scheduled gloom. Thing 2 was back to school on Tuesday finally and the Caveman was traveling for much of the week so I had some welcome peace and quiet. Haha! My Lumen is finally giving me some readings in the fat burn zone. Covid and then all the holiday treats had me off track for longer then I’d like. Sigh.

These cinnamon rolls Thing 2 crafted do not help my weightloss effort, but boy were they good. The icing wasn’t even on yet in this pic .

It does feel good to settle back into a routine, doesn’t it? You are optimistic with your ‘spring is coming’ proclamation, lol. I guess it is…eventually! Have a great week!

We had a couple of spring like days over here too and then this weekend jolted us back to winter! Still, can’t complain as I much prefer it to the heat of summer. It does take a minute to get back on a schedule after the holidays and kids etc. Have a great week ahead!

    Sun? What’s that?

Glad to read that things are returning to normal.

    Those cinnamon rolls look yummy.

I love that sunrise photo! So lovely!

Those cinnamon rolls look great — i actually prefer them without icing. 🙂

    Have a great week!

One of my friends was asking if I’d heard of Lumen recently (I hadn’t except from you). He’d read about it and was curious. Good to hear you’re getting into the fat burning zone again.

Glad to hear you’re getting back on track. We are, too. I do have to drive six hours to the farm on Wednesday to take my mom to a doctor’s appointment on Thursday, then drive home Friday so that will take up much of the week…

Cinnamon rolls are always a crowd pleaser – yum!

Glad you got a break from the gloom! Yes, you’re optimistic, but spring always does come eventually. We also make cinnamon rolls for Christmas, and when those were gone my daughter requested them again for her birthday. They are good!

    Mmmmmm. Cinnamon rolls.

Things won’t be back to normal for another few weeks, maybe. What can you do?

Our spring-like days happened in the previous week, LOL. We’re definitely back to our regularly scheduled January, though it’s been pretty mild (by January in the Midwest standards) in terms of temps and precip. The wind, though, has been a ferocious beast. Those rolls are making me think I need to fire up my oven….

50 degrees sounds heavenly! It’s been gloomy and cold here.

Glad you’re feeling like you’re back on track – I’m still trying to find my groove.

Those cinnamon rolls look so good!

How nice for you to get some sunny and mild weather. Those cinnamon rolls look fabulous!

mm cinnamon rolls. I cannot say no.
Glad you’re setting back into normal, and yes on 50s/sun

    The sauna is back! Nice!
I read that this Monday is the “bluest” Monday of the year. Apparently, there’s a statistic that says that the third Monday of the year is the most hated day.
Well, now that we have that out of the way we can look ahead to spring! Have a lovely week, Marcia!

It is definitely sometimes nice to be on your own (even if you still had Thing 2). I get that!

Sounds like you really recovered from COVID quickly! It’s very gloomy here most of the time too.

The cinnamon rolls look divine! I am glad that I’m not a good baker so that I am not tempted to make yummy treats like that, lol.

I am enjoying this weather in January. Kind of “perfect”. Those cinnamon rolls sure look yummy! I also enjoy having a routine – without it sometimes I feel lost!

I’ve been working on my arms the last two weeks, so this YouTube post is timely! I will have to check it out!
