A Welcome Taste of Summer

April 16, 2023

Mother Nature gave us a most welcome taste of summer this past week. The copious sunshine and warm breezes to the tune of 80+ degrees were so divine. It was a summer lover’s paradise to be sure. Of course it’s all coming to an abrupt end and there’s a freeze warning in our future along in the “S” word, but it was sure was nice while it lasted. Here’s how the week in workouts went:

Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Track intervals
Monday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Trail run 4 miles
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Lower body strength + Core
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Trail run, 5 miles
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Bike intervals, Strength
Saturday: Walk 4 miles otherwise rest

A Welcome Taste of Summer

Let the record show I made it over to the Oval Office for a 2nd track workout. The track is closed while school is in session and as soon as it’s out for summer the track gets verrrry crowded. I feel SO so accomplished getting in not one but two sessions and having it all to myself. Let the record show I totally overdressed for this workout.

The spring flowers and trees are blooming and the ducks and geese are very busy. I hope to see ducklings and goslings soon!

I attended a special session where I learned all about the new Norvan Spring Trail Running line from Arc’teryx. I’ve not used any of their gear before so I’m excited to get out on the trails in it.

Our favorite hound turns 6 today! There will most definitely be a pup cup in his future! Where have 6 years gone?

I’ll leave you with this golden-hour pic from one of our daily walks. Love the X’s in the sky and their reflection.

How was your week? Did summer make a surprise appearance? Loving any new gear? Happy Boston Marathon to everyone going!

Great clouds. Question is whether X marks the spot in the sky or the lake. Happy birthday Sir Fur. Such a cute pic
Boo on the track being closed. How is that even legal? Or it’s ot — folks just decide to listen?

New gear? Yes!! I’m LOVING my Brooks Launch GTS kicks! They felt great right out of the box, and hit me through yesterday’s 8-miler just fine. Happy Bday to Ozzy! That last pic is epic!

So do you just sneak in during the school day to use the track? Inquiring minds want to know!

Happy birthday to Ozzy!!! Cocoa sends her birthday wishes to him.

Summer came in like a wrecking ball, LOL! Mostly welcome.

So sorry about the snow in your forecast! Tomorrow is *supposed* to be much cooler — and rainy. Better than snow IMHO though.

Great job getting to the track!

Thanks for that reminder about the track… I will get there one day.

Rain in our forecast but no snow, I hope.

It’s been warm but loving it and the flowers that bloom.

Lucky you with the track to yourself! Sounds fun. Overdressed is more fun than underdressed for a run!

Great week Marcia! Love that Ozzy.

HBD to Ozzy! He’s such a cute pup. <3

My daughter had a bit of snow in Colorado on Friday — after temps in the 80s the day before. :-O

I’m guessing our weather will cool off just enough for me to have agonize over what to wear to my race next weekend. I am sure I will need to run in a t-shirt, but how cold will it be at the start???

Yes, I can see how it would be hard to figure out how to dress when it was suddenly 80 degrees. I’m impressed (and envious) about your track workouts- it’s been many years since I’ve gotten to a track. Sounds like you had a great week of workouts, oh and Happy Birthday to Ozzy!!!

Everyone seems to have gotten a taste of summer this week! I am not ready for summer temps quite yet. Happy birthday to Ozzy the cutie. Enjoy those track workouts while you can!

Nice work getting to the track! I do love a good track workout but ours has been so busy lately.

I can’t believe you have the s word in your forecast! Crazy weather…

    Happy Birthday to Ozzy 🙂

I didn’t know Arc’teryx was Canadian! I just had a look at their Norvan line – I really like that new women’s tank.
You’re so fortunate that you work in the fitness industry!

I love your X-photo!! Now we only need an “O” to match it. 🙂

It looks like you had a good week with all your walks this week and some trail & track running. I haven’t run on a track since I was in school. After all the snow and cold, I’m happy to see all American bloggers enjoy spring and warm temperatures lately. Hope the S word thing stayed away! Here we had a taste of nice spring weather yesterday and might get more of it today.
And happy birthday to your dog!

Great week! Happy birthday to your cutie!

Summer has been poking in and out and I hate it. I miss the cooler, more pleasant weather.
