Indian Summer Runfessions

October 24, 2024

Time is moving at warp speed and October is almost over. I swear I can’t even. If the year were a race, we’d be at taper time. That said, it’s time once again to open up the Runfessional, this time for some Indian Summer Runfessions. Ready to get started? Let’s go.

Indian Summer Runfessions

By the time you read this, we’ll likely be in Blacksburg, Virginia for Thing 2’s Homecoming weekend. It’s been 8 weeks (who’s counting?) since I’ve seen her and I runfess I cannot freaking wait! We’re connecting with Thing 1 in the Charlotte airport then we’ll road-trip together to campus.

It’s been a dry but glorious fall here in Chicagoland. Fall is truly the very best of the running seasons, in my humble opinion, and I’m enjoying plenty of time out on the trails. I runfess however that I do not miss “having” to do a certain number of miles per a training plan. While I’ve got plenty of favorite fall races I’ve run in years past, I do not miss running them one bit. I love just going out and running the miles I want at the pace I want and it’s all good. ‘Nuff said.

I told you I was in a strength cycle. While yes, I’ve done my share of strength training, I runfess this “strength” cycle was not my strongest. Of course I upped the weights…well a bit…I really didn’t push up to my limits this time around. Oh well, something is better than nothing right? I definitely need a do-over.

I runfess I haven’t been a very consistent blogger. Life totally gets in the way and it’s just not a priority. Sorry not sorry. It seems I’ve inadvertently dropped X (formerly known as Twitter) and I never really got started on Threads or TikTok either. Probably for the best. Who needs another social media platform? Not I apparently.

Ok your turn: What have you to runfess?

I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

I’m still enjoying racing, but I’m definitely not doing as many as in years past. And no regrets on that (well, not many). I’m still on Twitter/X, but don’t do much with it…I should probably just bail on it, huh! Enjoy your weekend!

It sounds like we’re living parallel fitness lives, lol. I too am enjoying running just to run and the trails have become my go-to. I’m enjoying strength training as well but could be doing more. And yep, IG is about all I can handle for social media.

I do love races but I’ll be glad when the marathon is over. I can run whatever I want.

I try to blog consistently but often I have to write a bunch way ahead.

Yup. Too many social media outlets. I haven’t bought into x or tik tok.

I didn’t link up for Runfessions this week because my blog post was too wildly off-topic. But I still wanted to stop by and touch base!
I hope you have an amazing weekend!!! So your older daughter is going too? It sounds so fun. For the strength cycle- something is better than nothing, for sure. And the good news is- there’s always an opportunity for a do-over if you want it.

I too am loving not “having” to run a particular amount of miles and just running to run. I’m leaning into strength and walking mor and feeling go. Have so much fun at homecoming! Enjoy our beautiful VA weather this weekend

I’ve been enjoying the last two weeks without a training plan, too! “Just running” feels so liberating!
While I love to blog, I try to stay away from social media apps.
Having said that, I’m on Strava and I don’t want to miss it. Seeing everyone’s workouts in different parts of the world is quite inspiring!

I love racing but I runfess that I’m looking forward to a break from it for the next few months after NYC.

I love fall and wish ours would get a bit cooler before winter comes!

I haven’t been super consistent either. Things have been chaotic. I love posting and sharing on IG, and I do try to manage Threads and TikTok but sometimes it gets daunting. I thikn we can give ourselves grace on that. Twitter/X is no great loss to me.

I hope you had a great time in Blacksburg. How fun that Thing 1 came too.

I’m just a lurker on IG and Threads. I shut down my X account so long ago it might have been Twitter back then.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
