Staying Healthy Through Party Season

June 30, 2019

I didn’t even realize it until a couple of days ago: The Fourth of July is bearing down on us! Oh June, you were so cold and wet…until you became oppressively hot…you didn’t really feel like summer at all. Here’s how this week’s workouts went. I’m sticking to my guns and keeping running miles low. [Read More]

June Rufessions Smell Like Roses

June 27, 2019

I’m sort of sad to see June slip away because summer seems to fade fast once July 4th is here. Before we bid June 2019 farewell let’s open up the Runfessional for the Runfession Friday Linkup. Let’s get to it: What’s better than a Bat Dog that smells like roses? You know we love our [Read More]

Dinner for Everyone Fast Pho with Tea Broth

June 25, 2019

I received free goodies from Peapod. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Let me be upfront here with you: I’ve never used a grocery delivery service before, nor have I ever used a meal kit to save time. No siree. I’m the kind of girl who takes the time to shop and [Read More]

It’s officially summer and the running is…well it’s joyful…and short. Here’s how the week in workouts went: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Speedwork at the Track Wednesday: Strength + Core Thursday: Run 3 miles Friday: 2 mile trail run + Plyo Intervals Saturday:  Run 5 miles + swim Sunday: CrossFit Quality over quantity describes my running right [Read More]

Inaugural Wonder Woman Chicago Race Recap

June 18, 2019

The idea of a Wonder Woman race intrigued me. Who doesn’t wanna harness their inner Super Shero? When I heard the Inaugural Wonder Woman Chicago would be in Gurnee, Illiniois, I was in. Since I’m out here in the Northern Chi sticks, Gurnee is an easy peasy drive, while downtown Chicago is an all day [Read More]

A Great Kind of Busy

June 16, 2019

Hey! It’s been quiet around here due to a combo of things. 1. It’s summer break and my focus is not on this blog 2. My work has exploded. In a good way. It’s a great kind of busy. I’m in the throes of a project I’m so passionate about, it doesn’t seem like work [Read More]

Well Hello Summer Break!

June 9, 2019

School’s officially out this week and summer weather arrived in all it’s fabulous, sun-kissed glory. We actually strung together 4 (FOUR!!!!) gorgeous, rain-free days. After our cold, wet spring, this felt quite fabulous. Here’s how the week in workouts went: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 2.5 miles (ran out of time) Wednesday: Run 5 miles Thursday: Swim [Read More]

Run for the Oceans with Adidas

June 7, 2019

Sustainability is a buzzword right now, but what does it mean? To me it means using less of the world’s precious resources. Walking or running instead of driving, reusing instead of tossing out, recycling and avoiding plastic as much as possible, since that stuff sits in landfills for the duration, as well as pollutes our [Read More]

Back in the Rack and a Limo Ride from Hell

June 2, 2019

I may not be running as much these days, but my post-marathon goal was to focus on strength training, and I’m happy to say I’ve held up my end of the bargain on that front.  The trail may look pretty but I won’t kid you, this run sucked. Here’s how the week in workouts went: [Read More]

Runfessions Over Cold Brew

May 30, 2019

Seriously HOW can we be saying goodbye to May already?  Maybe that’s a good thing as this month has been exceptionally cold and wet. Let’s sit down and catch up over coffee, runfession style. Since today is one of our rare nicer, warmer days, I’m going with cold brew. I’m linking up with Deb and [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
